Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Buyer Supervisor is responsible for the oversite of preparation and coordination of Purchase Orders for a wide range of materials and services. This may include but not be limited to; plate, structural steel, pipe, tubing, fittings, valves, weld consumables, electrical components & supplies, civil materials, tooling, consumables, chemicals, calibrated equipment, lifting and rigging devices, and personal protective wear.
This position acts as a liaison between representatives and must possess strong knowledge of procurement policies and procedures.
What You'll Do Here
Liaise with Client authorized representatives, as required, for commitment approvals, reporting and issue resolution.Support Operations personnel with material and tooling logistics for Aecon or Client provided items, on an as- needed basis.Prepare and Review Purchase Orders and related documentation to ensure clarity and completeness with the description of materials, components or equipment, quantity, adherence to quality assurance requirements, and ensuring authorization from the project management team to proceed with the purchase.Ensure proper drawings, technical specifications, and client specific requirements such as special purchasing instructions are included on the Purchase Order.Work closely with the Procurement Manager to develop reports and provide updates to the project team as required regarding material deliveries, delivery costs, and expedite costs.Ensuring quality, reliability and responsiveness to operational needs which meet or exceed organizational expectations.Monitor material deliveries to assist the procurement and materials management teams to identify critical deliveries to site.Assist the Procurement Department with supplier recommendations for materials or services.Serve as an advisor for Requisition and PO approval based on Limits of Authority.Oversee the training of new and existing procurement team membersEngage with the Process Improvement group to identify P2P challenges and deliver solutions within Procurement.Interface with Project Managers and Accounts Payable on vendor setup and outstanding invoice approval and payments.Interface with Office Managers to ensure credit application, vendor setup, and reconciliation are completed in a timely manner.Collaborate with Procurement Manager to ensure all Buyers are aligned with the needs of their respectful BU and monitor work performance.Perform periodic internal department system audits of performance and technology enhancements.Supervise and provide guidance to the procurement team, including training, performance evaluation, and professional development initiatives.Other duties as assigned.What You Bring To The Team
Post-secondary education in Procurement or Finance discipline – diploma or degree, or 3 to 7 years’ experience in a procurement or finance roleCompetence in Microsoft Office Products, namely Excel, Word, PowerPoint and VisioAbility to meet deadlines and manage priorities is criticalGood Interpersonal skills are essentialExcellent communication skills are essentialCustomer service orientedExcellent planning, decision making, negotiation and time management skills are essentialKnowledge of SAP and Power BI would be an asset
