AEGIS Insurance Services, Inc. (“AEGIS”) has an immediate opening for a SmartIQ Systems Architect to play an integral role in identifying, evaluating, and introducing new technologies and applications in line with the company’s technology strategy and roadmap. The Systems Architect, in conjunction with other Architects and the Chief Enterprise Architect, partners with both business and technology groups to ensure that the proposed technical solutions align with the company’s overall objectives and meet the needs of the company’s mission and vision. The Systems Architect works as a consultant to the development teams providing support for new/existing systems of high complexity and scope. The Systems Architect is responsible to fully understand the Smart IQ application and its integrated applications and their environments and perform application design for all applications within the team.
Job Requirements:
- 7 years of Smart IQ (v17X or earlier) experience, working with Modules, Custom Actions, designing and implementing custom databases and tables in addition to Smart IQ database, installing and configuring Smart IQ Scheduler and creating Scheduled Jobs, using API calls to generate PDFs and integrating the application with external applications/systems using Soap services
- Smart IQ expertise to include building business forms with rules driven data collection, drag and drop design, worklflows rules driven watermark on final outputs and setting up and configuring MS Word templates and layouts for insurance forms processing on SmartIQ
- 10 years of Java and DotNet development experience with focus on evaluating, developing, and implementing complex software systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer, Data Science, Engineering, or related discipline preferred
- Demonstrates analytical thinking for problem resolution and process development
- Possess a solid understanding of problem resolution, application monitoring, and troubleshooting, including basic knowledge of network principles
- Experience in designing, integrating, and managing complex solutions
- Comprehensive knowledge of hardware, software, applications, and systems engineering
- Able to translate business needs into efficient technology solutions
- Strong project management and organization skills

Essential Job Functions:
- Introduces technology in support of the long-term strategic roadmap for IT systems

- Supports the Chief Enterprise Architect’s efforts to develop and maintain policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure that a consistent framework is applied across the company
- Leads the design and modeling of tactical architectures for delivery, development, and support of projects
- Stays abreast of the latest technology infrastructure and processes in the industry and marketplace
- Partners with business and technology subject-matter experts to elicit and translate business requirements into technological solutions
- The Systems Architect partners with both business and technology groups to ensure that the proposed technical solutions not only align with the company’s overall objectives, but also ensures that both groups enable and drive each other to meet the needs of the company’s mission and vision
- Coordinates training and provides leadership/guidance to team members; serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the software product, tools, and techniques utilized, employing them with a high level of proficiency
- Seamlessly integrates business and service strategy into enterprise architecture roadmap
- Develops secure coding & secure design principles and trains developers on secure coding practices
- Support, resolve, and document issues that arise in the architecture; this may include reviewing designs and recommending improvements to the architecture
- Conducts technical research, testing, evaluation, and documentation of routine hosting/configuration tools and methodologies to ensure that tools are current and functional
- Share/leverage successful products, processes and best practices across the technology organization
- Collects and reviews system data for capacity and planning purposes; analyzes capacity data and develops capacity plans for appropriate level enterprise-wide systems
- Participates in the evaluation and implementation of vendor software and tools
- Serves as the subject matter expert for Application Security

We expect to pay a starting salary between $150,000 – 175,000. An applicant’s placement within this range is based on their individual qualifications and professional experience. In addition to base salary, AEGIS employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s annual incentive program, with competitive awards based on corporate and individual performance.
