DESCRIPTION
The Controller is held responsible for the accounting operations of the Company. This
individual’s scope includes the production of periodic f inancial reports, maintenance of an
adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets
designed to mitigate risk. The Controller is also responsible for enhancing the accuracy of
the company's reported f inancial results and ensuring that reported results comply with
generally accepted accounting principles or international f inancial reporting standards.

ROLE
EXPECTATIONS
- Develops a strong, trusted partnership with APS leaders, acting as an advisor and
partner in the areas of Accounting.
- Management: Maintains and enforces a documented system of accounting policies and
procedures and oversees the operations of the accounting department, including the
design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and
objectives.
- Transactions: Ensures that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner, ensures that
all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable, ensures that accounts
receivable are collected promptly, ensures that payroll is processed in a timely manner,
ensures that periodic bank reconciliations are completed, ensures that required debt
payments are made on a timely basis, maintains the chart of accounts, maintains an
orderly accounting f iling system, maintains a system of controls over accounting
transactions.
- Reporting: Issues timely and complete f inancial statements, coordinates the
preparation of the corporate annual report, recommends benchmarks against which to
measure the performance of company operations, calculates and issues f inancial and
operating metrics, manages the production of the annual budget and forecasts,
calculates variances f rom the budget and report signif icant issues to management,
provides for a system of management cost reports, provides f inancial analyses as
needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract
negotiations.
- Compliance: Coordinates the provision of information to external auditors for the annual
audit, monitors debt levels and compliance with debt covenants, complies with local,
state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax f ilings.
