Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have experience in operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce aerospace components with precision and accuracy. The CNC Machinist will play a critical role in our production process, ensuring that all parts meet quality standards and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC machines including mills, lathes, and/or grinders to fabricate aerospace components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to determine machining operations, tooling requirements, and machining sequences.
- Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and work holding devices to optimize machining processes and ensure part conformity.
- Program CNC machines using G-code and CAM software to perform complex machining operations such as milling, turning, drilling, and threading.
- Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and overall quality of machined parts.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on CNC machines including tool changes, tool offsets, coolant replenishment, and machine lubrication.
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify conformance to specifications.
- Troubleshoot machine malfunctions, tooling issues, and programming errors to minimize downtime and optimize productivity.
- Adhere to safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements at all times to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to identify process improvements, cost-saving opportunities, and quality enhancements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical vocational training or certification in CNC machining preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a CNC Machinist in a manufacturing environment, preferably in aerospace or related industry.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbols.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages such as G-code and familiarity with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, GibbsCAM).
- Experience with a variety of CNC machining processes including milling, turning, grinding, and multitasking machining centers.
- Ability to perform complex setups, tool changes, and troubleshooting on CNC machines with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in using precision measuring tools and equipment to inspect and validate machined parts.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
