What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Shop Manager position at Aegis Worldwide?
Aegis is seeking a Machine Shop Manager for a client of ours in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate would have the following experience and skills :
- 5 years of experience in machining or steel manufacturing. At least 2 years in a management position.
- Hands-on experience with CNC machining, manual lathes, and mills.
- Leadership- large team atmosphere here- they have machinist who have been there for 30 years. (the oldest machinist is 88 years old). Managing 6 supervisors across 3 shifts. This will grow depending on the persons experience.
- NOT a desk jockey- this person gets an office in the machine shop but, they need to be communicating with machinist, offering help, checking in on them, etc.
- Proven track record of managing teams in a manufacturing environment
- In-depth knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and materials.
- Proficiency in CAD / CAM software- Soildworks.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Microsoft office experience.
- Excellent problem solving and decision-making abilities.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma- do not need any specific black belt or anything like that.
