Aegis Worldwide is partnered with a Machine Shop in Evansville, IN who is looking to hire a customer-focused, skilled and detail-oriented Injection Molding Design Engineer. The ideal candidate will have 3 years of experience designing specifically for Injection Molding Machines. This position will collaborate closely with customers to understand their needs, develop and refine injection mold and tooling designs, and oversee the creation of molds for injection molding machines. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects, providing innovative design solutions and ensuring high-quality, efficient molds are produced. Our client is open to relocation candidates but is not able to offer a relocation package. Also this role is open for candidates who do not require sponsorship now OR in the future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with customers to understand their mold design requirements, specifications, and project goals.
- Design, develop, and modify injection molds and tooling using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Perform mold flow analysis to ensure proper function and optimal design for injection molding processes.
- Work with the engineering team and machinists to create prototypes and ensure designs are feasible for manufacturing.
- Manage mold design projects from concept through to completion, ensuring timelines and customer requirements are met.
- Provide technical support and advice to customers regarding design improvements, material selection, and cost-effective solutions.
- Review and interpret customer drawings, 3D models, and other documentation to create accurate tooling designs.
- Ensure designs adhere to industry standards and best practices in mold design and manufacturing.
- Maintain effective communication with customers throughout the design and production process.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving mold-related issues during the manufacturing or testing stages.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize design processes, tooling efficiency, and overall quality.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Tooling, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Injection Mold Designer or in a similar role, with hands-on experience designing and modifying injection molds.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Strong understanding of injection molding processes, materials, and mold design principles.
- Experience with mold flow analysis tools and techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with customers and internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail, with a commitment to high-quality standards.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in a small machine shop or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with CNC machining and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of current industry trends and new technologies in injection mold design.
