POSITION: Project to Senior Level Engineer – Site Mitigation Services

LOCATION: AEI’s New Jersey offices or Greater NYC area


POSITION SUMMARY

AEI Consultants is currently seeking a full-time mid-to senior-level Project Manager/Engineer to join our expanding Site Mitigation team. The ideal candidate has previous experience performing and managing remedial engineering, investigation and activities and is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE). In this role, you will help lead engineering and remediation services for AEI’s NY/NJ offices, co-lead overall technical operations for AEI’s eastern region, and mentor and manage technical staff. Responsibilities will also include developing project scope, schedule and budgets for various projects, including field work and travel, as needed.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for project design, implementation, reviews and oversight
  • High-quality technical report writing, including interpretation of data and applicable regulatory criteria, and strategic understanding of required next steps
  • Prepares and manages project budgets
  • Supports senior management team
  • Responsible for team proposals and cost estimate preparation
  • Project management of ASTM Phase II investigations and complex regulatory investigation/remediation projects
  • Responsible for field work and report writing
  • Document and report preparation; interpretation of data including recommendations of next steps
  • Develops subcontractor relationships and on-boarding of subcontractors
  • Responsible for scope of work and proposal preparation
  • Maintains or exceeds applicable utilization goals
  • Requires minimal oversight and supervision
  • Obtains and adheres to the Company required Health and Safety Training Program and Practices


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working experience with New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and Office of Environmental Remediation (OER)
  • Working experience with NJDEP Site Remediation Program (SRP) and proficiency preparing related deliverables (PA/SI, RI, RAWP, RAR, RA Permits)
  • Experience as task manager on remediation projects and/or managing a team of technical staff
  • Experience (approximately 5-10 years) with environmental due diligence (Phase I and Phase II assessments), and complex contaminated site investigation and remediation.
  • Experience with civil/environmental design, including remediation of soil, groundwater, vapor intrusion/radon mitigation. Brownfields redevelopment experience a plus
  • Soil, groundwater, and soil vapor investigations, including well installation, logging and sampling techniques
  • Practical experience or relevant knowledge of NY/NJ/CT/PA and Federal environmental laws and regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong business acumen
  • Flexibility to work in a team environment and as an individual contributor and project manager; willingness and ability to perform a wide range of project tasks, as necessary (i.e., client management, cost estimating, business development support, field work, report writing and review, etc.); and ability to think critically through a project from conception to completion
  • A self-starter, resourceful, with an attention to detail and the ability to work productively and independently on multiple projects under strict deadlines. Working experience with NJDEP Site Remediation Program (SRP) and proficiency preparing related deliverables (PA/SI, RI, RAWP, RAR, RA Permits)
  • Experience as task manager on remediation projects and/or managing a team of technical staff
  • Familiarity with NJDEP SRRA forms, EDDs, and related documents preferred
  • Proficient in AutoCAD preferred


EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in civil or environmental engineering, or similar field required


LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York and New Jersey preferred or EIT license with plans to obtain PE licensure within one year
  • NJDEP UST Closure/Subsurface Evaluator a plus


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The work environment may be both indoors and outdoors. Indoor work takes place in a typical office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Outdoor work requires the ability to effectively perform work in all types of weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, type, handle office and/or field equipment, speak and hear. The employee may occasionally be required to stand, walk, balance, kneel or crouch. The employee may be required to travel independently and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus.
