Position Overview:
Interns will gain practical experience in case management, client advocacy, and mental health support under the supervision of licensed professionals. This internship offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the community while advancing your professional skills.
Stipend Opportunity:
Interns who meet the qualifications for Certified Community Health Worker (CHW) or Doula certification may be eligible for a stipend. To qualify:
- Intern must have at least 1 year of experience as a community health worker or a job role related to community health worker.
- Interns must sign an agreed-upon contract to work at AEIC Case Management for at least one year following the completion of their internship.
- Certification in CHW or Doula must be obtained and verified during the internship period.
- If an intern does not hold the CHW credential prior to starting, they are required to complete training with a CHW instructor partnered with AEIC Case Management before becoming eligible for the stipend. You are responsible for paying for the training, but payment plans may be accepted.
Additional Opportunity:
Upon successful completion of the internship requirements, interns will be provided a position at AEIC Case Management to continue their professional journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in case management and resource coordination for clients.
- Provide support during group therapy sessions and mental health workshops.
- Conduct intake assessments and develop service plans under supervision.
- Facilitate community outreach and education efforts.
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with agency standards.
Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in a Social Work, Psychology, or related undergraduate/graduate program.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated interest in mental health, community health, or maternal support services.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to completing the internship and fulfilling a one-year contract if pursuing the stipend.
- Strong passion for and commitment to mental health advocacy and support.
- Empathetic and nonjudgmental approach to working with diverse populations.
- Basic understanding of mental health principles and therapeutic techniques.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer skills.
- Previous experience in a mental health or counseling setting is a plus:

Potential Key Responsibilities:
- Assist mental health professionals in conducting client assessments, intake interviews, and treatment planning.
- Participate in individual and group therapy sessions under the supervision of licensed therapists.
- Collaborate with the mental health team to develop and facilitate psychoeducational workshops and support groups.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records and progress notes in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
- Engage in ongoing learning and professional development by attending team meetings, training sessions, and relevant workshops.
- Provide support to clients in crisis, including assisting with safety planning and coordinating referrals to appropriate resources.
- Contribute to the development of mental health resources, educational materials, and outreach initiatives.
- Conduct research and stay updated on the latest developments in the field of mental health to enhance the quality of care provided.
- Perform administrative tasks as needed to support the efficient operation of the mental health program.
- Facilitate community outreach activities and discussions with clients as needed.
- Communicate with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care and/or promote mental health awareness.
- Social media marketing.
- Contractual responsibility to provide case management services to Medicaid clients.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Possession of a valid driver's license. CPR/BLS First Aid (required before start date). Community Health Worker Certification (Preferred)
