We are looking for a Construction Materials Testing Technician for our lab in NJ.
JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:
- Perform Lab Observations Reports and Materials Testing for samples received at the CM Lab.
- Perform testing on construction materials including, Soils, Concrete, Masonry, Fireproofing, and Paving.
- Write Daily Testing Reports documenting work performed at the CM Lab.
- Prepare for Testing and Test Field Samples of Concrete, Masonry, Grout, etc. for strength verification.
- Provide Daily Phone Calls to Department Manager to inform of Daily progress of the project.
- Calibrate Inspection Equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires long term standing and perhaps repetitive motions. You must have the ability to use your hands to handle, finger or feel; reach, climb or balance; crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit. You must have the ability to see and smell; including close, distance and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus. You may be required to drive hundreds of miles per day. Lifting -- You will regularly lift/move/shake up to 40 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 60-80 pounds; and occasionally move more than 100 pounds [such as a loaded wheelbarrow of concrete samples].
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have ACI Concrete Strength Technician Certification
- Must have ACI Aggregate Testing Technician Certification
- Must have a minimum of a high school education and 5 years’ relevant experience or Associates/Technology Degree and 3 years’ relevant experience
- Must have a valid driver’s license, safe driving record, dependable transportation
- ICC Certified as Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector, Structural Masonry Special Inspector, Soils Special Inspector, Spray Applied Fireproofing Special Inspector, Precast Concrete Special Inspector, NICET Level III or IV, NJSAT Plant Level II and / or Field Certification (Preferred)
- Possess physical strength, stamina, and dexterity for repeatedly lifting and moving, stooping, bending, and standing at the CM Lab.
- Adhere to AEIS and site-specific safety standards
- Ability to read and interpret maps and directions as well as project specifications & plans
- Must possess good verbal and written communication skills
- Must have the ability to work independently and on project teams.
- Have a high school education and 5 years’ relevant experience or Associates/Technology Degree and 3 years’ relevant experience.
