JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a ICC Certified Commercial Mechanical Inspector to perform the below:
- Perform skilled mechanical, plumbing, and fuel gas code inspections to verify compliance to a variety of systems, including the most technically complex engineered commercial systems to ensure installation in accordance with approved project drawings, codes, standards, and specifications.
- Inspect and verify testing of wet and dry heating and cooling systems, ducts and piping, fuel gas piping, refrigeration systems, building ventilation systems, exhaust systems, product conveying and hazardous exhaust systems and all related equipment for conformity to plans, approved materials, installation instructions and corresponding code requirements.
- Inspect complex commercially engineered systems specific to the building and its use. Interpret code requirements to verify commercial building systems operate together.
- Read and interpret on-site approved plans, notes, specifications, material and equipment listings and installation instructions.
- Verify equipment and fuel gas sizing is correct, installed and tested in compliance with code requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts the management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or related field plus four years' experience in building systems and codes; must hold an ICC Commercial Mechanical Inspector Certification
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a car.
- 30-hour OSHA safety training certification required
- Must work independently while making decisions that require technical discretion and sound judgment. Work is performed under general supervision
- Thorough knowledge of NYC mechanical, plumbing, and fuel gas codes, rules and ordinances; extensive knowledge of mechanical and fuel gas installation practices, systems and materials and intermediate knowledge of legal processes involved in the enforcement of building codes and ordinances.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires long-term standing and perhaps repetitive motions. You must have the ability to use your hands to handle, finger or feel; reach, climb or balance; crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit. You must have the ability to see and smell; including close, distance and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus. You may be required to drive hundreds of miles per day. Lifting -- You will regularly lift/move/shake up to 40 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 60-80 pounds.
