YARD, SHOP WORKER

Job Summary:

We are looking for a versatile and hardworking Yard and Shop Worker to join our team at AEP Fence Services, a leading provider of fencing solutions. This position involves a blend of warehouse duties, including managing inventory, processing shipments, and ensuring the proper storage of materials. Additionally, the worker will assist with shop tasks, including assembling and preparing fence products for our installers, maintaining tools, and assisting with production when needed. The ideal candidate will be organized, safety-conscious, and able to handle a physically demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Duties:

• Inventory Management:
• Receive and inspect incoming shipments of fencing materials such as posts, panels, gates, and accessories.
• Organize and store materials in designated areas, ensuring easy access and proper handling.
• Keep accurate inventory records and assist with regular stock audits.
• Order Fulfillment:
• Pick, pack, and prepare orders for delivery and installers, ensuring that all materials are correctly packaged and labeled.
• Assist with loading and unloading delivery trucks, using forklifts or pallet jacks as needed.
• Shipping and Receiving:
• Process incoming shipments, verify the contents with packing slips, and update inventory records accordingly.
• Prepare shipping documentation, including labels, invoices, and delivery instructions.
• Safety and Cleanliness:
• Maintain a clean and organized warehouse, ensuring that all materials are stored safely and that walkways and work areas are clear.
• Follow all safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.

Shop Duties:

• Assembly and Preparation:
• Assist with the assembly of fencing products, including cutting and prepping posts, panels, gates, and other components.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and machines to cut, weld, or modify materials as per customer orders or specifications.
• Welding experience a plus
• Tool and Equipment Maintenance:
• Maintain and care for all tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
• Report any damaged tools or equipment to the supervisor for repair or replacement.

• Small engine mechanics a plus
• Product Quality Control:
• Inspect products for quality and ensure they meet company and industry standards before shipping.
• Report any defects or issues with materials and finished products to management.
• Production Assistance:
• Assist the shop team with the preparation of custom fencing orders and other shop-related tasks.
• Help maintain a clean and organized shop environment to ensure smooth production processes.

Qualifications:

• Experience:
• Previous yard, shop experience is preferred.
• Experience in construction or working with fencing materials is a plus.
• Experience operating warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks) and hand/power tools (preferred).
• Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs or more).
• Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment, including standing, bending, and lifting.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions, depending on the season.
• MUST HAVE: Valid driver’s license

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
