Job Summary
Responsible for the strategic direction of a technology domain, services, or process within a broader strategy of a Business Unit (BU) customer or technology functional area. Promotes and applies Technology processes and solutions to meet the needs and align with the strategies of that BU customer or technology functional area. Responsible for directly managing and developing technology staff, building and sustaining collaborative relationships with operating companies, BUs, and technology teams. Lead the teams to complete projects and/or services and perform all technology work activities via efficient processes and effective use of resources. Responsibilities include decision making, risk assessment, task prioritization/assignment/tracking, project assignment, employee development, performance feedback, motivation, team building, communication, planning, resource allocation, cost control, problem/issue/conflict resolution, customer service, and client relations. Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plans; receives guidance and oversight from senior manager.Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
Lead a collective team of employees and strategic partner resources in AEP’s infrastructure operations to achieve operational excellence across the enterprise including corporate, distribution, transmission, and generation business areas.
Support infrastructure operations 24x7 including on call and major incidents
Support Middleware and Database deployments, lifecycle, maintenance, and incident response for infrastructure assets for AEP
Deliver industry best Middleware and Database solutions that enhance process consistency and productivity leveraging process standardization and automation.
Lead effectively within an operating model that includes both employees and co-sourcing teams.
Manage key operational and project metrics in support of KPI / SLA objectives in achieving business financial and delivery objectives.
Implement industry best practices for ITIL and oversee database and Middleware ITSM process including Incident, Change, problem, and configuration management ensuring the highest level of due diligence is performed.
Provide financial leadership, including strategic forecasting and planning; establish and manage departmental O&M and capital budgets in coordination with the plans of the Technology organization.
Provide training opportunities for employees to learn and share knowledge, strengthen skills, and deepen and broaden technical and professional capabilities; ensure that all employees are well-trained, knowledgeable, enabled and focused on the success of the company.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business, or related technical field is required. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
Experience: In addition to any experience required above, 8 or more years of technology experience; 4-6 years of direct supervision experience preferred.
Preferred Requirements:
3 years leading Database and Middleware Operations roles
Experience in leading technical projects and/or leading a team of engineers including co-sourcing teams
Delivering multiple production-critical systems and being focused on execution and delivery
Determine current and future infrastructure support needs
Manage Vendor relationships and spend for overall Infrastructure spend and forecast
Experience across other infrastructure technologies
Experience in Utilities vertical
Experience in Cloud deployments (IaaS, PaaS)
Demonstrated success in being an advocate for exceptional team culture

Compensation Grade:
SP20-010Compensation Range:
$132,562.00-172,331.00 USDCandidates will be considered based on their qualifications and the candidate’s ability to work from an approved work location. Although the location is flexible, AEP does not have a presence in all states and localities. The following locations are NOT currently approved for this position: AK, CA, CO, CT, DE, HI, IA, ID, KS, MA, ME, MS, MT, ND, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OR, RI, SD, UT, VT, WY, US Territories or international work locations. AEP will consider qualified candidates who are willing to relocate to an approved work location, at the candidate’s expense, provided the relocation can be completed within a timeframe that meets AEP’s staffing needs.
