Independently completes infrastructure project assignments. Plan, research, evaluate, design, and engineer the enterprise's technology infrastructure. Provide technical support and troubleshooting, cost estimates, justifications, and recommendations. Produces technical documentation, support and configuration. Manage, plan, and maintain technical platforms including upgrading systems. Monitor system performance and installs and configures hardware. Responsible for collaborating with other Job Families such as Project Managers, Architects, Solution Engineers, Technicians, Business Analysts to deliver consistent, reliable technology solutions that leverage AEP's technology standards, architectures and best practices.Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
Working independently, responsibilities include the following related to Computer, Network, Storage, Cloud and End-User infrastructure: Perform infrastructure project assignments. Plan, research, evaluate and design infrastructure solutions.
Directly support the enterprise network environment
Participate in the configuration, and performance analysis of enterprise networks with a primary focus on network routing, switching, firewalls.
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide 24x7 support.
Develop and plan network incident resolution, configuration audit and updates, as well as vulnerability remediations.
Execute Implementation Plans for Layer 2/3 enterprise networks that include Spanning Tree, virtual local area networks (VLANs), Virtual Port Channels (VPCs), Port Channels, redundant connectivity to ISPs, complex routing/switching infrastructure, extranet connectivity, data center design, and Wide Area Network (WAN) integration.
Provide a high level of technical support and analysis, operation, administration, and troubleshooting activities. Adhere to AEP’s approval processes as part of change management, incident management and trouble response scenarios.
Prepare cost estimates, justifications, application requirements, alternative solutions, and technical recommendations.
Prepare technical documentation including procedures, manuals, and reports.
Review and adhere to budgeting and approval processes while assisting with annual and project planning.
May provide training and mentoring, as well as work direction, to others on the team.
Minimum Requirements:
Infrastructure Engineer Senior (SG7):
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.
Experience: 5 years of relevant work experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
Infrastructure Engineer Principal (SG8):
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.
Experience: 7 years of relevant work experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience:
Five years in direct support of Network Operations in a large enterprise environment, preferably within the utility or energy sector. ServiceNow or similar ITIL experience is a plus.
Technical lead experience with Vulnerability Management, Remediation, and Reporting.
An advanced understanding of network communications technologies and n demonstrate the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, coordinate and resolve complex network issues and projects.
Experience with Arista switches including CVP, Cisco routers and switches (Nexus), network monitoring and management platforms including Solarwinds including NCM, and Cisco DNA, Wireshark packet analysis, AWX automation, and dynamic routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS).
Strong analytical skills with advanced knowledge of excel formulas.
Hands on experience with industry network protocols (TCP/IP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VLANs, Wireless LANs and VPN)
Strong knowledge and experience in routing and switching protocol, WAN technologies including MPLS, Point to Point, MAN and Wireless; LAN technologies including LAN design standards and best practices, Data Center network Design and Wireless solutions; and security standards with ASA firewall, design and best practices
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to clearly communicate complex findings and present them to ensure audience appeal at various levels of the organization and with clients
Licenses/Certifications: Cisco CCNA, CCIE, SolarWinds Certified Professional (SCP) or similar professional-level certifications

$85,081.00-106,352.50 USDCandidates will be considered based on their qualifications and the candidate’s ability to work from an approved work location. Although the location is flexible, AEP does not have a presence in all states and localities.
