Job Summary
Responsible for advising and assisting management on the administration of safety and health (S&H) event policies and procedures, including public safety matters. Responsible to disseminate safety and health information throughout their areas of responsibility, for coordinating the implementation of safety and health programs for use, for conducting safety and health observations and visitations, and for rendering guidance on safety and accident prevention to other members of management.Job Description

Safety and Health Coordinator (GR 006)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Instruct, advise, and assist in carrying out the Company's safety and health, public safety, and S&H event prevention programs, policies and procedures.
Prepare and advise on the use of programs and materials for meetings and conferences in S&H event prevention.
Conduct observations of AEP personnel, tools, equipment and work practices to assure that safe and proper procedures are being observed.
Advise and assist in S&H event analysis and serve as a resource to any event analysis committee.
Maintain a working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulations governing safety and health.
Review and assist as needed with the location's efforts to inspect contractors' adherence to safety regulations.
Promote and enforce the Company's S&H event Prevention and Safety and Health programs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's degree in safety, health, industrial hygiene/health or relevant field; OR Associate degree in relevant field of study with two years’ experience in related electric utility field operations; OR High School diploma/GED with four years in S&H administration, field experience or related electric utility field operations experience.
Experience:In addition to the education requirement: 2 years’ experience in S&H or electric utility operations experience.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver's License

1) Proficient oral and written skills.
2) Basic computer skills required.
3) Position involves daily travel and occasional overnight travel.
4) Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and independence.
Safety and Health Coordinator Sr(GR07)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Instruct, advise, and assist management and personnel to carry out the Company's safety and health, public safety, S&H event prevention programs and policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist organizations in developing long-term safety and health performance improvement strategies and the tactics to execute that strategy.
Develop and maintain a personal working knowledge, sufficiently diverse to be able to deal effectively with business partners regarding their safety and health performance needs.
Interactive in Safety & Health activities to access health and current processes of organization. Develop and implement performance processes designed to positively influence the Safety and Health within the organization as necessary.
Coach organization staff members in techniques and methods of developing and evaluating specialized materials, such as S&H performance assessment and provides one-on-one coaching as required.
Maintain continuous professional development; ensuring skills knowledge is up-to-date with latest S&H techniques within the industry.
Provide and present information, concepts, and demonstrate relevant skills as appropriate for Safety and Health related subjects or courses offered.
Promote and enforce the Company's Safety and Health programs.
May assist lower-level S&H professionals.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's degree in safety, health, industrial hygiene/health or relevant field of study; OR Associate degree in relevant field with two years’ experience in related electric utility field operations experience; OR High School diploma/GED with 4 years' experience in related electric utility field operations experience.
Experience: In addition to education requirement, 6 years of S&H experience, or electric utility operations experience.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver's License.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Safety Program Leadership:
Lead and coordinate safety programs, including recommending modifications and evaluating protective equipment.
Conduct periodic safety audits, preparing reports and discussing findings with management.
Long-Term Strategy Development:
Assist organizations in formulating long-term strategies for S&H performance improvement, outlining actionable tactics for execution.
Policy Recommendations:
Advise on changes to policies, procedures, and programs to meet safety objectives in line with applicable state and federal laws.
Stay updated on reporting standards and prepare comprehensive reports on company accident and injury experiences, recommending improvements for accident control.
Regulatory Interface:
Collaborate with business units to assess the impact of proposed federal, state, and OSHA standards on operations.
Provide consultation on safety regulations regarding new or modified facilities, ensuring compliance with federal and state standards, including MSHA and OSHA.
Investigations and Inspections:
Lead investigations and inspections aimed at improving hazard control programs and assessing compliance with safety regulations.
Evaluate safety programs for effectiveness.
Hazard Identification and Evaluation:
Proactively identify, evaluate, and analyze hazardous conditions and practices, working to eliminate weaknesses in the safety management system.
Performance Process Development:
Engage in S&H activities to assess current processes and implement performance improvements that positively influence safety culture.
Coaching and Training:
Coach staff on developing and evaluating specialized materials, including S&H performance assessments, providing one-on-one guidance as needed.
Assist and mentor lower-level S&H professionals, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
Continuous Professional Development:
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest S&H techniques through ongoing professional development.
Information Presentation:
Provide and present relevant information and skills related to S&H topics, offering training as necessary.
Program Promotion and Enforcement:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's degree in safety, health, industrial hygiene/health, or relevant field of study; OR Associate degree in relevant field with two years’ experience in related electric utility field operations experience; OR High School diploma/GED with 4 years' experience in related electric utility field operations experience.
Experience: In addition to education requirement, 8 years of S&H experience, or electric utility operations experience.
Licenses/Certifications: Must maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
