Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Shop Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with typical manual machining equipment and possess a keen eye for precision and detail.
Responsibilities
- Operate Manual Machining Equipment: Proficiently operate a variety of manual machining equipment including, but not limited to, drill presses, belt sanders, and deburring tools.
- Drill Press Operation: Set up and operate drill presses to drill, ream, and countersink holes in metal and other materials according to specifications.
- Belt Sander Operation: Utilize belt sanders to smooth and finish surfaces of parts, ensuring they meet the required standards.
- De-burring Parts: Carefully de-burr parts to remove sharp edges or burrs, ensuring safety and compliance with quality standards.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards, making adjustments as necessary.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure it operates efficiently and safely.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience in a similar role, with hands-on experience operating manual machining equipment.
- Technical Skills: Strong technical aptitude and familiarity with drill presses, belt sanders, and deburring tools.
- Detail-Oriented: High attention to detail with the ability to produce precise and accurate work.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and handle physically demanding tasks.
- Safety Awareness: Strong awareness of safety practices and protocols in a workshop environment.
- Problem-Solving: Good problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues with equipment or parts.

Pay: $17.50 - $18.50 per hour
