The Automotive Porter is an important role at Aero Auto Repair that ensures responsibility for assisting in the smooth operations of the auto repair service center in San Diego. Their primary duties include moving vehicles, managing inventory, ensuring vehicles is found in a cleaner condition then when submitted for service, performing light maintenance or customer service tasks. Automotive Porters support sales teams, service technicians, and customers by ensuring that vehicles are in the right place at the right time and in the best condition. In addition, this role helps support the service desk by performing quality control checks, organizing the facility and parking, and making sure the shop is clean, organized, stocked and safe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vehicle Movement: Safely drive and park vehicles within the dealership lot or service center as needed, ensuring that they are parked in an organized and accessible manner.
- Vehicle Cleaning: Clean and prepare vehicles for delivery to customers, including washing, vacuuming, and ensuring the interior is free of debris.
- Vehicle Inspection: Perform basic checks for vehicle condition, such as fluid levels, tire pressure, and cleanliness. Report any mechanical issues to the service department or manager.
- Customer Service Support: Greet customers and assist with unloading and loading of personal items, and provide a friendly, helpful service to enhance customer experience.
- Inventory Management: Help track and organize vehicles on the lot, ensuring the proper organization for ease of access. Assist in inventory checks and vehicle deliveries.
- Assisting Service Teams: Provide support to service staff by moving vehicles for customer viewings and test drives. Assist the service team with vehicle pickups or deliveries.
- General Maintenance: Help with lot upkeep, including ensuring the lot is clean, free of debris, and properly organized.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of vehicle movement, delivery, and condition to ensure proper inventory management and reporting.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols when driving vehicles on and off the lot, including observing all traffic regulations, and adhering to dealership policies.
- Additional Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned by Aero Auto Repair management team, such as assisting with other operational tasks or errands.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Prior experience in a customer service role or with vehicles is a plus, but not required. On-the-job training is typically provided.
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication skills and a friendly, customer-focused attitude.
- Basic mechanical knowledge or an interest in cars is a plus.
- Ability to handle physical tasks and be on your feet for extended periods.
- Comfortable with driving different types of vehicles, including manual transmissions, if necessary.
