Position Summary
The Senior Quality Engineer is instrumental in driving the company’s success in the implementation of quality improvements, internally and externally. This role has responsibility for identifying potential risks and vulnerabilities within processes and systems, as well as determining potential pitfalls and formulating effective strategies to mitigate these risks through complete analysis.
Essential Functions
Act as player-coach-mentor while evaluating, developing and improving competencies within the Quality Engineering team.
Interface with both internal and external customers to ensure satisfaction and to improve quality, while teaming with internal and external sources to solve problems.
Identify and direct efforts to continuously improve processes.
Oversee the results and effectiveness of key processes, including:
Developing and initiating standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation.
Establishing a program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement and analytical equipment and facilities.
Coordinate and manage customer investigations.
Partner with Engineering to ensure new product launch is on track, using project management principles, including:
Utilizing advanced quality tools, such as PFMEA, Control Plan and MSA to establish risk-mitigation strategies that drive defect prevention.
Facilitate quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
Use project management principles to manage large-scale projects involving various stakeholders, while being influential without formal authority.

Experience and Education
5-10 years of experience as a Quality Engineer in aerospace manufacturing required.
College degree in engineering or technical field is preferred.
Skills
Aerospace manufacturing experience in machines, processes, specifications, materials and inspections is required.
Hands-on, shop floor-oriented approach; must be comfortable working directly with production and other factory employees.
Experience with tight-tolerance manufacturing and high-tech, precision devices.
Proven ability to coach and mentor junior quality team members.
Experienced in data analysis and basic statistics.
Working knowledge of advanced quality tools, including measurement system analysis, statistical process control, process mapping, PFMEA and control plans.
Process approval processes (FAIR and PPAP/ APQP) development and review.
Nonconforming material evaluation and resolution (RCCA, 8D, etc.).
Quality systems, including internal audit (AS9100; AS13100 is a plus).
Blueprint reading and interpretation preferred.
Project management skills preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility
