What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Leader position at Aero Propulsion Support Inc?
The Shop Leader will provide daily work direction and leadership both strategic and tactical to all cell leaders and direct reports. He/she will have responsibility and authority to ensure that FAA approved repairs are performed on aviation hardware in accordance with APSI procedures. Working with his/her General Manager he/she will oversee the daily operation of the work cells.
Essential Functions
Tactical Role and responsibility:
- Provide and ensure a safe working environment exist for employees to perform their daily scheduled tasks.
- Drive excellence in housekeeping not only in specific cells but also in common areas.
- Provide and manage date commitments for repairs being performed.
- Drive to achieve one hundred percent daily on-time delivery while providing a quality level that meets or exceeds both Repair Station and customer requirements. Manage and understand rework, where it is occurring, why and what can be done to eliminate
- -report this thru action item list.
- Manage preventive maintenance on CNC and manual machining equipment (lathes , mills and grinders ) , plunge and wire EDM , vacuum/atmosphere furnaces , thermal spray equipment and various other plant machinery and equipment.
- Work closely with, engineering and Quality to identify and implement creative process improvement solutions.
- Update and maintain production sheets representing all released parts within their area of responsibility.
- Initiate Action Items to improve process, work closely with Operation Leader to ensure that these items are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
- Drive a one-piece FIFO plan for the prioritization of work performed in the cell. Use customer date due (including Pool parts) as the method to determine priority and schedule.
- Promote and drive cross-training for all Cell employees.
- Model and exemplify Company Policies, i.e. attendance, break time and communication and shop metrics.
Job Qualifications
- At least 2-4 years of directly related experience.
- Though knowledge of the Aerospace MRO industry.
- Good interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work as an individual contributor or team player.
- Great organizational skills and computer literacy.
- Experience with “Lean” concepts a plus. This is a hands-on position and requires experience with multiple in-house manufacturing pieces of equipment.
