Mission description
Carry out testing under direct and indirect supervision of received materials, in-process manufacturing samples, and R&D specimens. Train lab technicians, review best practices, and conduct directed R&D. Summary of Duties: Perform material testing in accordance with Zodiac Aerospace and customer specifications. Perform in-process testing in accordance with Zodiac Aerospace and customer specifications. Sample and analyze rejected materials as needed. Carry out non-routine analysis as needed. Ensure all materials are sampled as required by applicable material specification, data entered into Royal Four MRP system and lab log. Ensure all equipment used is within the calibration date and in proper working order. Coordinate testing with the needs of production and receiving inspection. Operate under the direction of the Lab Manager and the Quality Manager. Work as part of a team within the immediate group, the quality department, and the company as a whole. Additional duties as assigned
Five years experience in a laboratory setting with increasing levels of responsibility. Two years may be substituted with educational experience. Mechanical aptitude, fine motor skills, soldering of electrical components. Attention to detail. Familiar with mathematic calculations, conversions, and units of measure. Computer literate in MS Office software suite and web-based computer applications. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Clearly communicate in written and verbal formats. Ability to work efficiently, accurately and safety in a laboratory environment. Ability to work standing for 8-10 hours. Familiarity with: routine mechanical and chemical laboratory techniques, use of calipers and micrometers, laboratory calculations, sample preparation, use of chemical/physical analytical instrumentation, and mechanical test equipment. Minimum education level of HS diploma or equivalent. Preferably holds an Associate Degree in Chemical, Quality, or Manufacturing Technology, in addition to a minimum relevant experience.
