Job Title : Director of Space Systems
Job Description :
Director of Space Systems and technical lead for a Denver based space business specializing in advanced space electronics. Leading a team of approximately 20 established engineers with experience in full life cycle development of Software Defined Radios (SDRs), Co-processors, advanced ESA antennas, and waveform development. Supporting space based SIGINT and / or Comms missions using A-PNT and advanced TAFS (timing and frequency synchronization) capabilities. You will play a critical role in managing and overseeing technical innovation and advancement associated with commercial and government contracts. You are empowered to expand our mission support and space capabilities for both DoD and IC customers. You are on the leading edge of new product concepts with an agile engineering and technical vision to respond quickly to customer needs. Your primary responsibilities will focus on technology advancement and strategy along with ensuring business success from opportunity development working closely with Business Development and technical team. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and customers to ensure the successful technical development of projects to enable technical advancement and business growth. Beyond tactical technical execution you will have the chance to drive strategy for growth enabled by internal investment and IR&D that you will own and lead.
Key Responsibilities :
Develop space solutions through full product lifecycle from concept through O&M
Develop technical roadmap for current and new capabilities aligned with current and future customer requirementsPlan and execute internal research and development for advancing space technologyEngage with customer leadership and technical teamsWork closely with program management to validate technical progress and statusLead peer review of designsLead technical teams through development, prototyping, and productionLead root cause corrective action (RCCA) investigations for technical failuresBusiness Development :Work closely with ATG strategy team to develop and execute a space focused strategic plan to drive growth.
Leverage existing customer contacts to expand current market and / or into new market adjacencies.Build technical credibility for yourself and the business with customers to expand addressable market opportunities.Support conferences, consortiums, and trade shows as required.Work closely with Business Development to enable value added engagements with current and prospective customers.Stakeholder Engagement :Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders.
Support regular communication and program reporting to stakeholders on program technical status, risks, and issues.Foster strong relationships with customers and stakeholders to ensure satisfaction and support.Team Leadership :Lead and mentor technical teams, promoting a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Provide direction and support to team members to achieve technical objectives.Support performance evaluations and professional development of technical team members.Risk Management :Identify, assess, value, and manage technical risks, developing contingency and mitigation plans as needed.
Monitor technical risk mitigation activities and adjust plans as necessary.Report on technical risk status and mitigation efforts to stakeholders.Qualifications :
At least 15 years of experience in aerospace and defense, with strong technical experience executing development through production of space hardware and software payloads with proven Business Development experience holding strong USG customer relationships.Prefer existing relationships with SDA, NRO, SOCOM, USSF
Education : Bachelor’s degree in engineering related field; a Master’s or PhD degree is preferred.Deep understanding of space hardware and software development and deployment.Prefer TRL9 hardware experience – developed hardware on orbit
Leadership experience with extensive DoD / IC / Space relationships and credibility.Understanding of change management, risk management, and FAR based contract execution.Strong technical leadership and team management skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Must be U.S. citizenAbility to attain and maintain a TS security clearance, prefer TS cleared already.Working Conditions :
