The Maintenance Technician role assists with the performance of work involved in keeping machines, mechanical equipment, or the fixture/structure of an establishment plant properly maintained for safe and efficient operation in accordance with established practices, processes, regulations, guidelines, and standards. Leads the Preventative Maintenance Program keeping all equipment in working and safe condition for daily operations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoots and repair of automated equipment including PLC’s
- Coordinates or assists with disassembly, assembly, installation, or repair of building structures, machinery, or equipment
- Inspects, operates, or tests machinery/equipment to detect malfunctions or defects in physical structures
- Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replaces filters, or performs other maintenance actions, following standard procedures
- Performs basic preventative maintenance on equipment/machinery and physical structures to ensure the functionality and condition does not deteriorate. Such activities may include cleaning or lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery, devices, or control instruments
- Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections
- Repairs or replaces defective machine/equipment parts, or physical structures using hand tools and power tools, and reassembles machine/equipment
- Coordinates the installation and relocation of equipment
- Ensure compliance with appropriate external regulations and internal maintenance policies and procedures
- Knowledge of safety protocols and LOTO procedures
- Maintains accurate records on work requests and completion, type of maintenance or repair work, and other similar records
- Abides by, enforces, and participates in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all company safety standards and regulations
- Team player who is reliable, eager to learn, train and rotate through various operations
- Other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications/Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Two years or more Vocational/Technical Program, or equivalent; and a minimum of 1-year of relevant work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
- Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and other systems
- Demonstrated experience as a maintenance technician
- Strong understanding of general maintenance processes and methods
- Working knowledge of tools, power tools, common appliances, and devices
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to apply common sense understanding to comprehend and carry out instructions, both written and verbal
- Ability and/or willingness to drive a forklift (stand-up or sit-down)
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent manual dexterity and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to plant personnel
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Perform the four operations with like common and decimal fractions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in or from standardized situations
- Self-motivated and driven to exceed goals
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing priorities
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook (email)) with basic skills and experience
- This position will require the candidate to pass a pre-employment drug screen
Travel: Not Required.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, frequently will be required to sit; type; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls (some repetitive motion); and talk or hear.
Also, occasionally will be required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Tools & Equipment:
PC, printer, telephone, copier, and other office equipment. Manufacturing tools: cutting machine, tape, and vacuum chamber machine.
