What are the responsibilities and job description for the Test Technician position at Aerospace Test Lab?
GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION
Perform vibration and shock tests on a variety of test specimen in accordance with customer requirements and in conformance with company work instructions, procedures, and employee training.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Execute testing procedures on customer supplied test samples per work instructions and training procedures.
- Program and operate vibration controllers and electro dynamic vibration systems (various models)
- Assist customers with mounting test specimen and fixtures
- Evaluate and characterize fixtures for vibration tests
- Select accelerometers and evaluate and determine control strategies
- Accurately complete technical reports, test results, and all other required documentation
- Execute tests in strict compliance with the company’s quality system
- Coordinate with the laboratory manager, lead technician and the principal engineers to maintain testing efficiency.
- Support the laboratory manager and lead technician in identifying and eliminating workflow / schedule bottlenecks and support in maximizing operational efficiency
- Establish and oversee a regular maintenance schedule for all electro dynamic vibration systems and associated equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge:
- Must have 5 years of relevant work experience
- Education: none formally required (Associates and/or Bachelors degree in physics or electronics welcome)
Skills/Abilities:
- Experience in working in a testing environment (must have)
- Exhibit diligence in executing work instructions (must have)
- Demonstrate proactive, detail oriented, and thorough work ethics
- Must be able to follow work instructions (verbal and written)
- Familiarity with Unholtz-Dickie and ETS electro dynamic shakers; Vibration Research and M P Controllers; data recorders; oscilloscopes; accelerometers; and pressure transducers is desirable.
- Ability to work days, late, or night shifts
- Able to professionally interact with customers
- Must show proficiency in use of popular computer software products (Microsoft Office, etc)
- Must continuously maintain and advance its own knowledge in the field of vibration analysis, vibration controllers, accelerometers, and standards compliance.
- Must work well individually and in a team environment
- Must exhibit good mechanical abilities and background.
- Must be proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Must provide proof of a valid drivers license and have reliable transportation to and from work.
- US Citizenship required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Physical requirements: Lifting 20 to 40 lbs.
- Standing / Sitting: 70%/30%
- Manual Dexterity is required in order to work with hand tools
- Use of PPE is required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 per hour
