What are the responsibilities and job description for the Blender/Mixer position at Aerotek?
Description:
Working in a cast stone manufacturing plant reading recipe cards/work orders to mix product/cast stone correctly (5 ingredients in each batch: Aggregate, Sand, Color, Concrete, and Water). Strong in math to understand how much water and product need to be mixed together such as 1/3 of the mixture needs to be water or 45% of the mixture needs to be moisture. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Prep molds for pouring of concrete including form release, rebar, lifters, inserts, block outs, etc.
- Batch concrete ensuring correct specification requirements are met such as slump, air entrainment, P.S.I., water to cement ratios, sand & aggregate gradation, etc.
- Pour concrete in molds using the correct type on concrete mix to insure proper strength, consolidation, workability, quality, etc.
- Consolidate concrete to prevent bug holes using float vibration, internal vibration, bed vibration, “sticking”, etc.
- Apply trowel finishes and drip as required.
- Load hoppers ensuring product meets testing requirements and isn’t contaminated.
- Maintain and perform material testing reports required by the Cast Stone Institute and internal testing requirements.
- Clean wash out pits daily insuring all equipment is cleaned to prevent early failure.
- Maintain inventory of standard samples including matching and mixing samples for custom projects.
- Willingness to acquire certifications such as, Cast Stone Institute (CSI), American Concrete Institute (ACI), Precast/Pre-Stressed Concrete Institute (PCI)

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
6 months of recent experience in mixing concrete. They are interested in candidates that have worked in the concrete field, production, or were farm hands.
Verify through references:
Ability to read and use blue prints/schematics/recipe cards.
Ability to understand fractions and decimals and convert those to properly weigh out product to ensure a consistent mixture of ingredients
- Read blueprints including shop drawings, hardware list, and piece tickets.
- Calculate fractions, decimals, portions, percentages, area, and volume.
- Properly operate hand and power tools.
- Follow proper safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Maintain a positive, helpful, & constructive attitude.
- Ability to lift 80 lbs. on an occasional basis and 50 lbs. on a repetitious basis.
- Operate a forklift.
- Operate overhead crane.
- Ability to work additional hours/days as required.
- Fill out time sheets and material usage reports.
