Job Title: Utility Power Pole Test & Treat Inspector
Join our Geospatial & Utility Services team offering a wide range of services including mapping, utility asset inspections, drone spraying, and natural resource inventories. AeroTract’s software engineers develop our machine learning platform offering a robust quantification/qualification package for our clients. From data acquisition to asset analysis, we are a full-service geospatial and utility solutions provider to our clients in Forestry, Agriculture, Utility, and Commercial industries.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Utility Power Pole Test & Treater Inspector to perform routine inspection, testing, and preservative treatment of wooden utility poles. This role involves field assessments, data collection, and ensuring structural integrity and regulatory compliance to extend the service life of poles.
Key Responsibilities:
Field Inspection & Testing (50%) Perform routine inspections of wood transmission, distribution, secondary, service, and guy poles by excavating around the base, inspecting external and internal conditions, and conducting non-destructive tests. Document inspection findings, moisture readings, decay assessments, and structural defects using company reporting tools. Coordinate with utility crews and clients to schedule inspections and facilitate access. Ensure all work complies with NESC standards and company specifications.
Treatment, Reporting & Safety Compliance (50%) Apply preservative treatments and wood stabilizers to prolong pole life, using proper equipment and safety protocols. Complete and submit detailed treatment records, material usage logs, and client reports. Maintain and calibrate testing and treatment equipment. Follow all safety procedures, including confined space entry, PPE usage, and traffic control measures.
Qualifications:
Experience in utility pole inspection, treatment, or related field work (2 years preferred). Knowledge of wood preservation techniques and non-destructive testing methods. Familiarity with NESC guidelines and OSHA safety regulations. Excellent communication and reporting skills. Ability to operate heavy machinery, lift 50 lbs, and work in outdoor environments. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
