The Operations Support Manager is responsible for administering the technical and corporate training activities necessary to meet / exceed company training requirements and to oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of aircraft modifications. One of the Operations Support Manager’s primary roles is to assess training needs, create training plans / materials, and deploy effective training programs to ensure employees are trained and qualified to competently perform the duties associated with their job and to improve employees’ skills, productivity, and quality of work. The Operations Support Manager evaluates training program effectiveness, manages training budgets, and stays updated on training drivers to ensure the organization’s training initiatives are aligned with business goals and employee developmental needs. The Operations Support Manager measures the effectiveness of training via metrics and compliance audits and then works with other managers and leaders to generate necessary corrective actions, training enhancements, and other solutions. This position plays a key role in ensuring that the company maintains compliance with published processes, procedures, systems as well as internal and external regulatory requirements and in continuous improvement.

This role requires a thorough understanding of aviation regulations, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and Implement Training Programs :

  • Design and implement comprehensive aviation training programs for Aery personnel to include corporate general, maintenance, safety and flight operations to include the FAR Part 135, 145 and USG Flight and Ground Operations requirements.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop training materials and curriculum that meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Ensure that training programs are effective, engaging, and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Provides company “needs analysis” and budget forecast plan for training on a quarterly or as needed basis.

Manage Training Programs :

  • Stay abreast of changes in aviation regulations and ensure that all training programs remain compliant with relevant laws, regulations, contract changes and other policies affecting Aery including the FAA, DCMA, OSHA and more.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas of non-compliance and develop strategies to address them promptly.
  • Oversee the scheduling and coordination of training sessions, including online sessions, classroom instruction, and hands-on training exercises.
  • Work closely with training staff and instructors to ensure that training sessions are conducted efficiently and effectively.
  • Evaluate training outcomes and implement improvements as needed to enhance the effectiveness of training programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of training compliance.
  • Provide Training Support :

  • Serve as a resource for employees seeking guidance on training requirements, certification processes, and regulatory compliance. Implement the “train the trainer” when applicable.
  • Provide support and mentorship to training staff and instructors, helping them develop their skills and expertise.
  • Build strong relationships with internal departments to ensure alignment of training programs with operational needs.
  • Liaise with Aery managers on regulatory, industry, customer and other requirements and changes. Stay informed about changes in training standards and best practices.
  • Assist operation personnel in managing training requirements in their purview with an emphasis on personal and managerial responsibility.
  • Plan, Schedule, and Manage Aircraft Modification Schedules :

  • Plan and sequence aircraft modification projects. Develop efficient project schedules and keep them updated for organizational visibility and forecasting.
  • Forecast budgets (labor and parts) for aircraft modification schedules. Track and manage labor and budget burn.
  • Manage resources and accountability against published schedules. Gain stakeholder buy-in during schedule development. Employ timely and professional communication keeping all necessary stakeholders informed of schedule changes.
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Project Management, Organizational Behavior, Adult Learning / Curriculum Development or similar field is strongly preferred. Aviation training experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Five or more years of practical experience in training administration and development, preferably in an aviation environment. Prior experience developing and implementing corporate and aviation training programs is highly desirable.
  • Three or more years in a supervisory role. Proven leadership abilities, with the capacity to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of learning and instruction, specifically adult learning theories, types of learning, and levels of learning.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify compliance issues and develop effective solutions. Experience with process improvement and systems development is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization. Experience interfacing with and maintaining effective relationships with senior level customer personnel.
  • Familiarity and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft products, aviation training, and curriculum development software and learning management systems including :
  • Teams and SharePoint (organization, navigation, document libraries, lists, presenting)

  • Office 365 products (Outlook, Word, Planner, etc.)
  • Excel (functions and formulas)
  • PowerPoint (animation, video recording, and presentation through Teams)
  • Microsoft Lists
  • Microsoft Forms
  • Power Automate
  • Microsoft Project
  • Familiarity and proficiency with video recording and editing tools preferred (Adobe Creative Cloud Premiere Pro or similar)
  • Familiarity with aviation resource management tools preferred (Quantum MX, Corridor or similar).
  • Requires a broad knowledge of Aircraft Modification and FAA Certification / Supplemental Type Certification processes and a firm knowledge of 14CFR structure and aviation FARs 21, 43, 91, 135, 145. Excellent knowledge of aviation safety standards, procedures, and best practices is required.
  • Strong understanding of the purpose and function of Quality Management and Safety Management Systems.
  • Project management experience is highly desirable. Project Management Institute Professional Project Manager certificate or other professional project management certificate preferred.

  • Additional Position Requirements :

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Occasionally required to lift and / or move bulky items more than 50 pounds.
  • Relevant military experience may be considered.
