The Kentucky gigafactory in Bowling Green will supply Mercedes-Benz with high-performance battery cell modules. The South Carolina gigafactory in Florence will supply technology-leading battery cells for new electric models produced in BMW Group's Spartanburg plant. About The Role
The Manager, Maintenance is responsible for leading a team of Maintenance Engineers, Supervisors, Technologists, Technicians, and Scheduler/Planners to ensure that all equipment operates efficiently and effectively within the plant. This role is critical in achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to safety, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and cost reduction, with the ultimate goal of improving profitability. The Manager, Maintenance works closely with plant leadership to develop maintenance strategies, track budgets, and oversee the continuous improvement of equipment uptime and safety performance.
What You Will Do
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, coach, and manage a team of Maintenance Supervisors, Technologists, Technicians, Scheduler/Planners, and Maintenance Engineers to ensure optimal performance.
Develop, train, and audit maintenance activities across all levels of the organization to ensure standardization, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Provide leadership and support for new equipment installations, including training, maintainability assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Conduct staff meetings and foster a positive environment that encourages the achievement of all KPIs and continuous improvement goals.
Performance Management
Develop standardized KPI metrics to track and improve performance across the maintenance team, focusing on increasing equipment uptime and reducing costs.
Lead benchmarking activities for technical and management improvements, ensuring global best practices are shared and implemented across all plants.
Manage safety performance within the maintenance team, proactively identifying potential safety issues and implementing preventive measures tavoid accidents.
Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly OEE meetings tmonitor progress and institute countermeasures to address top technical issues.
Project & Budget Management
Develop and manage maintenance budgets in coordination with plant leadership and track maintenance costs, ensuring adherence to budgetand cost-saving measures.
Provide project coordination for equipment specification, shipping, installation, debugging, and program launch activities.
Review and approve expense reports, P-card purchases, and work with vendors to manage costs and ensure high-quality service.
Develop justifications for capital expenditures (CapEx) related tmaintenance and equipment improvements.
Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
Drive a continuous improvement mindset within the maintenance team, using root cause analysis and Systematic Cause Analysis Techniques (SCQT) to address recurring issues.
Identify opportunities for technical improvements and implement new maintenance processes to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
Lead the team in troubleshooting equipment failures, identifying root causes, and developing long-term corrective actions.
Contract Management
Manage relationships with contract service groups, ensuring cost control and quality of service in maintenance-related activities.
Oversee technical and maintenance management training provided by external service providers, ensuring alignment with internal standards and goals.
Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications
What You Need
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related discipline or technical field is preferred.
2-5 years of supervisory experience, providing leadership, coaching, and training to subordinates or contractors with differentiated roles. Experience leading teams with distinct functions and titles but similar objectives.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite and other PC applications to create non-standard, creative products for project tracking and reporting.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and lead a team towards achieving defined goals.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with team members, leadership, and external stakeholders.
Ability to recognize and address safety concerns, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
Travel Requirements
This role may require occasional travel to other gigafactory sites for equipment buyoff, training, or cross-functional project meetings. Travel will vary based on the need to support global initiatives and new plant setups.
