Controls Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for developing and troubleshooting all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Primary job functions may require exercising independent judgment May be responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC (Allen Bradley and Siemens) based hardware and software.

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Troubleshoots all aspects of PLC and PC electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery
• Provides and/or coordinates technical support for PLC hardware and software
• May be responsible for the design, development, modification and installation of PLC based hardware and software
• Provide training, as required, to departmental technicians
• Locate and repair faults in extruders, materials systems, facility power distribution 
• systems and any electrical related systems
• Troubleshoot and repair AC and DC drives
• Prepare purchase orders for parts and supplies needed
• Make repairs to mechanical hydraulic, pneumatic and other industrial systems
• Must perform job in a manner that is safe for all employees as well as self
• May be required to provide “on call” stand by response to emergency repairs when assigned
• Must have valid driver’s license.
• Must have own tools and storage cabinets.
• Adhere to all safety policies and best practices
• Document all activities as required
• Adhere to all company guidelines for emergency evacuation to ensure employee safety
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas (5S)
• Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures (5S) i.e. production floor, shipping & receiving office and warehouse as needed
• Ability to communicate and understand verbal and written instructions in English
• Perform other duties as assigned or required

Required Education, Experience & Training:

• Requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and 3-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. 
• Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
• Able to maintain confidential information

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times
• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands to fingers, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls to work in an office/production environment
• Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus to work 

Salary : $110,000 - $120,000
