Registered Nurse (RN)

Overview
Established Plastic Surgery office looking to hire an RN to join our staff. Individual must have PACU, Emergency Room, or ICU experience. Job entails pre-operative, peri operative, and PACU duties as well as office based patient care. The individual should be motivated, personable, and courteous with exceptional organization skills. We are looking for someone who is willing to go the extra mile to provide the utmost of care for our patients. Experience in plastic surgery a plus. We are looking for someone who is personable, honest, outgoing, kind, compassionate, an all-around great personality. We would like to welcome a new member to our already awesome team.

• Currently licensed as a registered nurse to practice nursing in the state.

• Graduate of an accredited school nursing.

• BS in nursing preferred.

*

• Certification in CPR.

*

• A minimum of two years experience as a PACU nurse preferred.

• Completion of ACLS

• Responsibilities:

*

• a) Initiates physical and psychological patient assessment and initiates post-procedure care plan.

*

• a) Determine patient status upon arrival to the unit, based on the Medical Directors scoring criteria.

*

• b) Assess patency of airway and continually monitor adequacy of ventilation.

*

• c) Applies appropriate monitor systems as needed by the patient.

*

• d) Report abnormal vital signs immediately to physician/anesthesiologist.

*

• e) Check dressing and/or procedure site; reports abnormalities to M.D.

*

• f) Provides safe, warm, caring environment for patient and family.

• 2. Implements care of the patient/family in PACU.

*

• a) Understands usual drugs thoroughly and recognizes the need for reversal drugs.

*

• b) Administer medications as needed to achieve safe and optimum level of analgesia and relief from nausea and vomiting.

*

• c) Recognizes emergency situation s and responds effectively in a calm, controlled manner.

*

• d) Assures that all patients meet all discharge criteria.

*

• e) Appropriately gives both patient and significant other verbal and written discharge instructions.

*

• f) Accurately documents all of the above on the patient’s medical record.

*

• g) Follows policy and procedure if need to transfer patient to an in-patient facility.

• 3. Utilizes interpersonal skills to promote and maintain communication.

• c) Maintain good relationship and communicate well with patients, families, staff and physicians in a professional manner.
