Job Overview
An aircraft mechanic at AEVEX Aerospace is responsible for maintaining and repairing aircraft systems and components. They inspect and diagnose malfunctions, use power and hand tools to fix parts and ensure compliance with aviation safety regulations.
Essential Functions
- Perform maintenance and alteration tasks in accordance with the current technical data, manufacturers' instructions for continued airworthiness, service bulletins, and other FAA approved/acceptable data
- Maintains complete and accurate maintenance records in accordance with repair station requirements
- Inspects structural, mechanical, and electronic elements of an aircraft using a variety of hand and power tools to assess and replace parts
- Maintains engines, landing gear, instruments, pressurized sections, brakes, valves, pumps, air conditioning systems, and other aircraft related systems
- Able to identify, troubleshoot, and correct repairs on aircraft, its subsystems, and components
- Supports problem solving and continuous improvement efforts
- Follows safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a safe working environment
- Ensures all work is done efficiently and adheres to aviation safety regulations and industry best practices
- Maintains a clean work environment in full compliance with company standards and customer and government regulations
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications and Competencies
- Experience in maintaining aircraft system components
- Thorough understanding of technical manuals
- Ability to work from prints
- Ability to recognize aircraft discrepancies and troubleshoot
- Strong knowledge of standard aircraft maintenance practices
- Strong ability to understand QA processes, parts identification and control tags
- Working knowledge of airframe structures and power plant systems
- Basic understanding of electrical systems and wiring diagrams
- Ability to lead others or assist in leading others
- Thorough understanding of shop equipment and specialty tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently with direct supervision
- Detailed oriented, organized and a team player
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a time sensitive industry
Education / Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent education required
- A&P certification preferred
Experience
- Minimum 3 years aviation experience as a mechanic
- Military aviation experience a plus
