The Director of Engineering Services is responsible for overseeing the delivery of engineering support, solutions, and services to integrated product teams that reside in the Unmanned Systems Products division. This position reports to the VP, Unmanned Systems Products Division and provides Systems Engineering, Integration and Test, Operational Analysis, Modeling and Simulation, and Configuration Management across a diverse set of product portfolios. Technical Publications and Engineering Technicians are also managed out of this department.
The Director of Engineering Services is responsible for leading and managing a team of skilled engineers by developing engineering best practices and managing skills competencies to ensure quality engineering services are provided to product teams. This position will be responsible for managing engineering utilization and reporting metrics to stakeholders.
This role requires a highly collaborative individual that must support multiple interests within the division and prioritize tasking and skills required to meet business objectives. The Director of Engineering Services is also responsible for vetting and approving outside engineering support services and managing the engineering skillset within the Unmanned Systems Products division and career planning for the various engineering disciplines needed across the product development teams.
The Director of Engineering Services will be responsible for managing and recommending engineering tools (both hardware and software) and implementation of new engineering process and training across the engineering workforce.
Essential Functions
- Define and implement the vision, strategy, and roadmap for engineering services in alignment with the organization's goals.
- Collaborate with executives and cross-functional leaders to identify and prioritize engineering priorities and needs.
- Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering services team.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation.
- Establish performance metrics and regularly evaluate team effectiveness.
- Oversee the successful delivery of engineering services, ensuring quality, timeliness, and budget adherence.
- Implement and maintain best practices for project management, service delivery, and technical support.
- Manage resource allocation to optimize team productivity and client satisfaction.
- Approve and manage subcontracted engineering resources.
- Develop and refine processes, tools, and methodologies to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational improvements.
- Collaborate with sales, product, and other departments to align engineering services with customer requirements.
- Represent the engineering services team in executive meetings and presentations.
- Develop and manage the engineering services budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and increased revenue through service optimization.
- Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, contracts, and pricing strategies.
- Perform other duties as required.
