SUMMARY:
This position leads the Regulatory Reporting Team, who ensures fulfillment of required, regulated, financial and non-financial data reporting to rate bureaus and other regulatory entities. The Team is responsible for regulatory reporting for all AF Group business units: all core business brands, Assigned Risk Solutions, and various fronting partners. This position oversees the Team’s operations to ensure the right data is submitted the right way to the right customer at the right time, every time. This position also ensures timely and effective response to customers to satisfy criticisms, questions, or quality concerns arising from data submissions. This position commands the department tactically by leading day-to-day business operations and ensuring tasks are completed according to required schedules or service levels. The Supervisor also assists the Regulatory Reporting Manager strategically by providing key operational data to support planning and making recommendations to improve operations. This role may represent the Company on industry committees.
Regulatory reporting includes data and related deliverables that are defined by state and federal agencies and workers’ compensation rating bureaus such as NCCI, ISO, and independent bureaus. Such deliverables are a necessary condition of doing business and are required by various laws and bylaws in the industry. Timely and accurate delivery is critical to maintain a good reputation with industry regulators and to avoid punitive actions against the Company, which can include fines and other sanctions.
RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:
- Lead the Regulatory Reporting Team and daily operations for all brands, across multiple lines of business and multiple job functions
- Ensure fulfillment of the Team’s scope of responsibilities in a manner that avoids unnecessary adverse regulatory actions, which can include the imposition of fines and other sanctions
- Maintain current knowledge of data requirements, data definitions, file specifications, and other technical details necessary to understand and comply with regulatory reporting requirements
- Prioritize the Team’s workload to ensure department resources are being used efficiently and effectively
- Assist in goal setting, planning, and prioritization for Team members
- Provide analysis and recommendations regarding key performance indicators as requested by leadership
- Monitor data quality indicators and escalate concerns as needed. Assist in developing action plans when data quality concerns arise.
- Maintain current knowledge of statistical reporting requirements
- Work with business process owners and vendors to ensure data quality and compliance with reporting requirements
- Coordinate with other business areas (e.g., Finance, Service Center, and Claims) to ensure optimal process for reporting
- Serve as key participant and subject matter expert in requirements gathering, testing, and implementation of new Regulatory Reporting products and technologies
- Review new and revised reporting requirements and work with appropriate business units or vendors as needed to design solutions and implement reporting process changes
- Lead data quality improvement projects, process improvement, new and updated process implementations, and other activities that impact regulatory reporting
- Ensure department reporting schedules, processes and procedures are documented. Ensure documentation updates are made as business segment exposures and/or reporting requirements change.
- Ensure Team members are adequately trained to perform required tasks
- Establish, monitor, and document expectations & performance of direct reports. Report on performance issues when necessary.
- Serve as a liaison and represent the Company with respect to regulatory data reporting. Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with all employees, leaders and external parties. Maintain accountability for individual and collective successes within the Enterprise.
- Provide assistance with financial call processes as directed
DIRECTION EXERCISED:
Directly supervises exempt and non-exempt staff in accordance with company policies and applicable Federal and State Laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to effectively interviewing, hiring, terminating, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; supporting and encouraging the engagement process.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in business, insurance, computer science or related field. Additional training/education in computer applications. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Continuous learning, as defined by the Company’s learning philosophy, is required. Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum five years combined experience working in the insurance industry in a financial, data reporting, analytical, or supervisory capacity
- Minimum five years reporting workers’ compensation data to NCCI or similarly complex and regulated reporting
- Minimum two years working in a supervisory capacity
- Experience supervising in a collective bargaining environment is preferred
- Direct experience working with data collection agencies and industry tools such as NCCI, ISO, and CDX
- Experience in collection and reporting of statistical data for multiple lines of insurance is strongly preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an office setting without unusual hazards. Occasional travel is expected.
PAY RANGE:
Actual compensation decision relies on the consideration of internal equity, candidate’s skills and professional experience, geographic location, market, and other potential factors. It is not standard practice for an offer to be at or near the top of the range, and therefore a reasonable estimate for this role is between $78,800 and $132,000.
