The Department of Veteran Affairs Outpatient Clinics is growing!
If you love the beach, enjoy music / art, and appreciate the military, look no further & come care for veterans as a Primary Care Physician in our Chesapeake, VA or Virginia Beach, VA clinic or our Hampton VA Medical Center in Hampton, VA! Our Physician Provider will be based out of the main outpatient clinic, as we provide the best whole-health care for veterans in an outpatient setting! The patient pool for our Primary Care Physician is 1200 assigned veterans with an allotted daily patient load of 13, totaling 30 hours a week dedicated to face-to-face care.
The Western Branch Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (WBCBOC) is scheduled to open in April 2025. Those hired for these positions will be required to work at the VA Medical Center or one of the other CBOCs (management determination based on need) until the WBCBOC opens. Open to U.S. Citizens but non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
Our Physicians will be based out of the main Hampton VA Medical Center hospital and lead a multidisciplinary team (also called Patient Aligned Care Teams-PACTs) as we provide the best whole-health care for veterans in an outpatient setting! The patient pool for our Primary Care Physician is 1200 assigned veterans with an allotted daily patient load of 13, totaling 30 hours a week dedicated to face-to-face care.
The weekly schedule allows for a full half-day for administrative time, and one hour on all other days. Each PACT is also assigned an RN, LPN, and administrative support / scheduler.
We do have special opportunities for pools of patients to be dedicated to either all geriatrics or women's health.
This position requires no call coverage and has an ideal Monday through Friday workday (8-4 : 30 pm) with an opportunity for a compressed schedule (4 x 10-hour days).
The following duties are required of the position; they include, but are not limited to :
- Provides a full range of services including assessment and using the most appropriate techniques in providing quality care in their subspecialty.
- Perform appropriate evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment of patients.
- Provide a full range of therapeutic interventions in units / programs in the Hampton VA Medical Center to which they are assigned and has clinical privileges to practice including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation and management.
- Participates effectively in team meetings and treatment planning conferences and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members in a manner that enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care.
- Orders diagnostic tests and discriminates between normal and abnormal findings and makes appropriate treatment decisions.
- Ensures that the practice of medicine is consistent with the Joint Commission, Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), VA policies and procedures, clinical practice guidelines, VISN standards, national statutes regulations, medical record documentation, mandatory continuing education, and HIPAA policies.
- Specific tasks are itemized in each physician's Credentialing and Privileging package.
