JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The basic function of the Warehouse Manager at White Distribution & Supply an AFC Industries Company is that of a working supervisor and coordinator for the warehouse activities. The Warehouse Manager has direct responsibility for the operational decisions as it pertains to productivity of employees, receiving, selection, shipping, stock control, and management of Company tools and equipment.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
- The Warehouse Manager is selected by and reports to Customer Operations Manager.
- The Warehouse Techs report to the Warehouse Manager.
REQUIREMENTS
Requires an Associate's Degree in Business, Distribution Systems or Logistics, however, several years of practical warehouse management experience may be substituted; the ideal candidate would possess a Bachelor's degree in business and a minor in Accounting in addition to practical distribution experience.
Requires five to seven (5-7) years of experience in warehousing. Experience must include P&L budgeting and responsibility for inventory control, storage methods, receiving, shipping, and equipment.Must be a dynamic individual who is 100% customer oriented with the ability and skills to mold and motivate a team of dedicated employees. The ability to meet or exceed production requirements and operating budgets in order to attain the Company goals for the year.The physical requirements include sitting, walking, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists and fingers.Requires the use of all senses. Travel by automobile or airline may be required to attend various conventions, and seminars.Must be able to comprehend business math calculations and understand financial statements. PC literate for spreadsheets, word processing, accounting, and database programs.
Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing, preferably in English. Will write and read reports and make presentations as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work will be primarily in a warehouse that is not temperature controlled. Workdays will be from 8-12 hours per day with some early or late evening meetings.
This is a highly visible position in the company therefore the Warehouse Supervisor must maintain visibility in the forefront of customer service. The philosophy is that the customer is always right, unless proven different, and we always treat them as right.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Manage the receiving, shipping, inventory control, and production functions; hire, discipline, and supervise the Operations Department employees.Prepare and implement duty lists for employees as agreed on by the President; ensure all department employees have received an annual performance review.Ensure that the methods used to do the work are efficient, productive, and in conformance with all OSHA and other government guidelines.Audit and review work done by employees for quality / completeness.Inspect company equipment for safety problems; coordinate the necessary repair work with the President.Review employees' work hours and timecards. Ensure all paperwork and reports are submitted in a timely manner.Request supplies, equipment and / or personnel as needed, within budgeted guidelines and at the least possible cost.AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY
The Warehouse Manager has the following authority and responsibility :
Hire, discipline, and recommend termination action on all reporting employees only at the direction of the President.The quality and completeness of production requirements, receipts, shipments, and deliveries.The timely completion of all functions with a minimum of overtime expense.Enforcing company policies and procedures.Ensuring safety policies are adhered to.Minimization of waste and ensuring that good housekeeping is practiced.Ensuring the necessary supplies and equipment are available.Ensuring that all department employees are productive.Completing and returning all paperwork including picking tickets, customer invoices, and delivery receipts.The security of company equipment, supplies, and personnel assigned to her / him. Returning equipment and unused supplies to designated storage areas.Assist the President in preparing the annual department budget.Ensuring that the department remains within the annual budget.Ensuring that employees do not abuse break / lunch times.DUTIES AND TASKS
The Warehouse Manager's duties include, but are not necessarily limited to :
Monitor the shipping schedules regarding the customer location and requested delivery date; ensure all paperwork is ready for Delivery drivers.Monitor inventory purchases with regard to over / under stock.Report any equipment in need of service.Direct / train employees on correct procedures for receiving, selecting, storing, and delivering customer orders. Perform the duties of the Service Tech weekly to stay up to date on customer needs.Review / supervise the work of department employees to ensure it is efficient and complete. Monitor and maintain production requirements.Assist in retraining employees as necessary to ensure proper completion of the work.Enforce company policies. Direct or counsel team members as necessary. Discipline offenders as per company policy.Monitor the use of supplies.Complete and return all receiving and delivery documentation daily.Review time sheet hour reports for warehouse employees' hours of work.Notify the President of the progress / status / problems with product, customers, vendors, and carriers.Talk to customers and carriers as necessary maintaining a satisfactory working relationship.Work with the customers looking for new opportunities.Keep employees productive and in their assigned areas.Report all accidents promptly per company policy.Complete annual performance evaluations on department employees as directed by the President.Ensure the cleanliness, neatness and orderliness of all equipment and facilities.Ensure that employees have, are properly instructed in, and use necessary protective and safety equipment.Ensure that all sanitation devices are properly positioned and maintained.Ensure that warehouses are organized, location codes are maintained, goods are palletized, properly stored, and protected from external and internal elements.Assist in the preparation of the department budget.Review department P&L monthly to ensure that the department is within the budget or that corrective action is being taken for deficiencies.All other duties deemed necessary.Job T ype : Full-time
