Job Summary
- Medical Assistants (MA) provide general nursing care to patients in an urgent care / outpatient clinic. Medical Assistants are also responsible for ensuring safe, courteous, and high-quality care to all patients while upholding the highest standards of professional excellence. They report to the Clinic Manager and Medical Director.
Essential Functions
- Patient Care: The Medical Assistant greets patients, explains prescribed procedures and treatments, and takes vital signs in accordance with approved nursing techniques. a. Prepare equipment and aid providers during exam and/or treatment of patients. b. Ensure ordered tests are performed accurately and promptly. c. Collect specimens using approved equipment, sequence, and procedures. d. Perform drug screenings in accordance with established rules and regulations. e. Administer patient immunizations using approved nursing techniques. f. Provide any other necessary services to deliver excellent health care to all patients.
- Patient Satisfaction: personally provide all necessary assistance to patients and assist other clinical staff to ensure the continuous delivery of excellent patient experiences. a. Respond to all messages and requests as needed. b. Assist Clinic Manager to investigate and promptly resolve patient complaints.
- Administration: ensure clinic compliance with medical protocols and standard operating procedures. a. Maintain complete and accurate documentation of patient charts, records, or logs. b. Work with clinic manager to maintain appropriate inventory of supplies.
- Facility: maintain and keep clean all exam and procedure rooms, nursing station, supply closets, and other areas of the clinic. a. Report to management any facility condition items that negatively impact aesthetic appeal and/or patient experience or result in service interruptions. b. Properly start lab equipment daily, perform maintenance as scheduled.
Other Responsibilities
- Serve as Medical Receptionist when/if needed.
- Manage difficult patient situations, respond promptly to patient needs.
- Ability to perform the physical activities consistent with a clinic environment including standing or sitting for long periods and reaching or bending to access cabinets. Potential exposure to potentially infectious material and chemicals.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Licensure from a college or technical school.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and positive patient interaction skills.
- Ability to both multi-task with other team members and work independently.
