DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing
REPORTS TO: Production Manager
JOB SUMMARY: The Production Planner and Scheduler will be responsible to follow established production schedules which maximize output in accordance with established priorities. The Production Planner and Scheduler reviews production schedules and confers with appropriate person to determine materials overdue, location and/or state of completion of materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times
- Plans sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers
- Communicates with purchasing department to resolve potential or realized material issues shortages
- Confers with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects
- Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions
- Partners with suppliers to expedite parts and achieve production requirements
- Prepares production reports
- Creates laser nests, laser and production work orders, creates and receives purchase orders
- Supports lean philosophy and participates in lean functions/kaizen events
- Performs other duties as assigned
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
- 4-year degree preferred, preferably in Operations Management, Business, or related field
- 3 years of prior production planning, scheduling and production control experience in a manufacturing facility required
- Above average math skills; at least college level math, statistics, and/or algebra required
- Thorough knowledge of how an ERP System operates regarding the following modules: Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Master Production Scheduling (MPS), Inventory Management (IM), Production Control and Costing (PCC), Product Data Management (PDM), and Purchasing Modules
- General knowledge of an Advance Planning System, and the concepts of such a system, and how it relates to an ERP System
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Access in order to perform miscellaneous analyses as required
- Knowledge in Jobboss
