Responsibilities
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving.
- Assure participants are delivered to appointments in a timely manner.
- Follow established schedules, adjusts schedules to meet unanticipated changes, and determines the safest and most efficient pick-up and delivery routes.
- Assist passengers on and off the van in a safe and courteous manner.
- Inspect vehicle and maintain it clean, orderly, and safe condition before and after each pick-up/drop-off.
- Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with clients during service.
- Complete driver logs electronically or on paper accurate record of trips information each time the vehicle is used.
- Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with geriatric individuals including those with cognitive decline and/or physical frailties.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Qualifications
- Must be able to hear staff/clients on the phone and those who are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to clients and staff
- Valid VA, MD or DC Driver's License and 5 years clean driving record
- Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and operate handicap-accessible vehicles.
- Must pass background check and drug screening.
Experience:
- Commercial driving: 1 year (Preferred)
- Delivery driver experience: 1 year (Preferred)
- Driving: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- Driver's License (Virginia, DC or Maryland )
Work Location: In person (Williamsburg, Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk and Virginia Beach)
