We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Operations Officer (COO) to lead and optimize our wholesale distribution and milling operations. As our company experiences growth, including the expansion of our warehouses and feed mill, this role will be critical in ensuring operational excellence, strategic expansion, and financial oversight. The COO will work closely with the CEO to align business strategies with long-term objectives while overseeing daily operations across our distribution centers and production facilities.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with the CEO to define organizational needs.
- Develop efficacy programs for operations and transportation to promote a profitable and safe working environment.
- Develop and execute business strategies that align with short- and long-term objectives in collaboration with the CEO. Analyze internal operations, identify areas for improvement, and implement process enhancements.
- Partner with sales management to ensure sufficient investment capital for growth targets.
- Monitor performance, implement corrective measures, and prepare updates and forecasts.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, clients and partners.
- Oversee all aspects of wholesale distribution and milling operations, project timelines, business development, and employee productivity.
- Analyze revenue streams and relationships to optimize growth and revenue strategy.
- Develop and align actionable business strategies and plans with organizational objectives.
- Assess and integrate improved processes and new technologies in collaboration with management.
- Build industry relationships to strengthen business networks and opportunities.
- Coordinate with feed mill and distribution center operations to ensure product quality, efficiency, and timely delivery.
- Develop and manage strategies for business growth while maintaining operational excellence.
- Identify opportunities for vertical integration and process optimization in production and distribution.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.
- Collaborate with supply chain and logistics teams to streamline operations and enhance delivery performance.
- Exhibit an ability to receive feedback, adapt to new processes and continuously develop skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to collaborate, communicate well and effectively relay information with an emphasis on developing positive professional relationships.
- Practice punctual and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, operations, or a related field, OR 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role in lieu of a degree.
- 5 years of experience in senior leadership roles within wholesale distribution, logistics, supply chain management, or feed/agricultural production.
- Proven track record of managing warehouses and high-volume logistics operations.
- Strong analytical, strategic planning, and business development skills.
- Expertise in contract negotiations, lease management, and financial oversight.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage large-scale projects, oversee multiple teams, and drive operational success.
- In-depth knowledge of industry regulations, safety protocols, and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with performance management, financial principles, and operational best practices.
- Experience in implementing growth strategies, process optimization, and technology integration.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time as needed.
- Self-starter with highly developed ability to direct the efforts of self and others.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving and investigative skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Possess a valid driver license and maintain a safe driving record.
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in business, supply chain management, operations, or a related field
- Knowledge of Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies
- Experience in using Epicor or WMS software
SCHEDULE
This is a full time, salaried position. Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Annual base salary: $130,000 - $180,000. After meeting eligibility requirements, benefits include:
