Affect Therapeutics integrates mobile technology, addiction counseling, and medical care to support our Members on their recovery journey. Our program is delivered 100% virtually, reducing barriers to care and increasing accessibility.

By combining a digital therapeutic smartphone app with an integrated care team, we provide real-time, data-driven treatment that leads to better outcomes and lower healthcare costs. Our services are fully remote, and our team operates in a work-from-home environment.

This is a fully remote opportunity. Candidates must have an active Oregon and Washington State Peer Support certification and be actively enrolled as an Oregon Medicaid provider.


About the Role:

The Peer Support Specialist at Affect Therapeutics plays a vital role in empowering and supporting members on their recovery journey from substance use disorder. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our clinical team to provide non-clinical, person-centered support, offering individualized guidance, mentorship, and resources to members.

Your lived experience, empathy, and commitment to recovery will be key in helping members navigate challenges, build resilience, and stay engaged in their treatment.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Member Support: Provide direct peer support to members in your state(s) through one-on-one and group sessions, fostering a sense of community, building self-esteem, and reinforcing long-term recovery.
  • Advocacy & Resource Connection: Assist members in navigating barriers to treatment, accessing community resources, and developing self-sufficiency skills.
  • Education & Mentorship: Offer guidance on wellness management, recovery strategies, and overcoming negative self-talk while serving as a mentor and role model.
  • Group Facilitation: Plan, develop, and lead peer support groups that empower members and encourage positive behavioral changes.
  • Confidentiality & Compliance: Maintain thorough documentation of all member interactions within 24 hours, ensuring adherence to HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and all confidentiality regulations.
  • Collaborative Engagement: Work closely with Affect's clinical team to enhance treatment effectiveness, sharing insights and feedback to improve member outcomes.
  • Crisis Support: Provide encouragement and support during crises, helping members navigate challenges and stay focused on their recovery goals.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and development opportunities to maintain certification and stay updated on best practices in peer support.
  • Billing Utilization: Work to meet billable hour targets as set forth by management for Peer Support Specialist offerings.

Requirements:

  • Active & verifiable Oregon (Peer Support Specialist) and Washington State (Certified Peer Counselor) Peer Support Certifications.
  • Actively enrolled as an Oregon Medicaid provider.
  • Education: High school diploma required; a Bachelor's or Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience providing peer support, case management, or advocacy services to individuals with substance use disorder or related conditions, including crisis management interventions.
  • Professionalism: Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor during all member interactions.
  • Knowledgeable: Familiarity with evidence-based practices in substance use disorder treatment and available community resources.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to effectively engage with members, families, and professionals through clear and compassionate communication.
  • Technical & Analytical Skills: Excellent writing, presentation, and analytical abilities.
  • Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Ethical Commitment: Dedicated to maintaining a high ethical standard in all aspects of the role.
  • Remote Work Setup: A quiet, private, and dedicated home office with a door for HIPAA-compliant conversations and a reliable internet connection.
  • Comfort with Change: Enthusiasm about working for a small early-stage company.
  • High comfort level with technology, including EMR software, email, Slack, and mobile apps (e.g., Google Suite).
