Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Assistant Position
Our busy, three office oral surgery practice seeks a friendly, caring, motivated surgical assistant. The assistant will aid the surgeons, work closely with other staff, and serve patients to make procedures as comfortable and safe as possible. The oral surgery assistant helps prepare and sterilize all necessary instruments for the surgeons. The assistant also helps maintain a clean, inviting, and organized work area and office.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate’s degree is preferred.
- Proof of hepatitis B vaccination
- CPR certification required
A current Maryland dental radiation technologist x-ray certification is required, but can be obtained during employment.
- A Dental Assistant’s National Board certification desirable.
SPECIFIC TASKS
Chair-side assisting; assist with general anesthesia and IV sedation procedures: familiar with emergency drugs and procedures; monitor patient’s vital signs and intravenous fluids during surgery; inform patients on pre-op and post-op instructions; make dental impressions and casts; maintain instruments and prepare operating rooms; autoclave operation and infection control; provide a high standard of patient care.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience.
