Billing and Coding Specialist

Edits claims for correct coding, including but not limited to, ICD-10, CPT and modifiers. Reviews claims for accurate clinic cross-over data such as NDC numbers, units and dosages. Ensures accuracy of insurance and sliding fee determinations. Make necessary adjustments to ensure claims are ready to be filed. Post batches daily for timely filing of claims. Communicates with Revenue Cycle Manager for trends in inaccuracies or omissions. Works closely with Revenue Cycle Management contractor to ensure maximized revenue.

Communicates directly with patients by phone or in person regarding outstanding balances. Explains balances as requested. Resolves inaccuracies as needed. Updates patient demographic and insurance data as needed.

Report Monitoring: Works Outstanding Aged Claims Reports. Works with Revenue Cycle Manager on rejections/denials to ensure rejected claims are corrected and refiled in a timely manner. Proposes adjustments to Revenue Cycle Manager for action. Provides review and remittance advice for payment errors, denials and under-payments.

Work with Revenue Cycle Manager and other staff to implement, test, and review new or revised programs with billing implications; and to collaborate within the department on projects directly related to billing processes.

Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
