Duties
- Provide one-on-one peer support to individuals facing mental health or substance use challenges.
- Assist clients in developing coping strategies and life skills through motivational interviewing techniques.
- Collaborate with behavioral health professionals to create individualized recovery plans.
- Offer crisis intervention and management support during critical situations.
- Mentor clients by sharing personal experiences and encouraging positive behavioral changes.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.
- Stay informed about community resources and support systems available for clients.
- Will be required to reach out to clients via phone as well as in person as necessary.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Peer Specialist is required.
- Experience in behavioral health or social work is preferred.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies and crisis management practices.
- Familiarity with mental health counseling techniques and addiction counseling principles.
- Strong mentoring skills with the ability to inspire hope and resilience in others.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Commitment to ongoing personal development and training in relevant areas.
- Multilingual ability is a bonus
