What are the responsibilities and job description for the Computer Field Technician / Tech IT position at Affinity Technology Group?
Affinity is seeking a new IT Ninja to join our team full-time. Ideal candidates understand small to mid-sized computer networks in healthcare, municipal, and small business settings, with strong prioritization, communication, and time management skills.
Please note that this is NOT an entry-level position and that experience on the battlefield is an absolute necessity. It is equally important to emphasize the fact that if you don't enjoy working with people (and can't provide consistently friendly, compassionate customer care and service), this is not the place for you. We love working with people (we’re not just saying that). It’s a dying art, and it’s what we do!
The candidate should possess:
- At least 21 years of age
- 3 years of on-site computer and networking support experience under your belt
- Reliable smartphone to keep connected

- Prioritization, Time Management, and Communication/Collaboration
- Problem Solving Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and prioritize client relationships
Required Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Windows Operating Systems (desktop and server)
- Knowledge of virtualization technology (Microsoft Hyper-V, VMWare ESXi/Workstation)
- Understanding of wired and wireless security standards
- Ability to locate devices on LANs and configure them
- Familiarity with dental healthcare support software (Patterson Eaglesoft, Dentrix EHR, etc.)
- Experience with Microsoft Teams/SharePoint, Google Cloud
- Networking hardware troubleshooting expertise
- Proficiency in Dell systems and network infrastructure
Additional skills:
- HIPAA compliance knowledge
- Experience with network vulnerability scans
- Familiarity with Mac OS X, iOS, Android devices
- Understanding of Fortinet and HPE Aruba infrastructure
- Knowledge of privacy and security in HIPAA-covered entities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
- Relevant experience valued over formal education
- Ability to work well with people and provide compassionate customer service
