What are the responsibilities and job description for the Home Repair Technician - Weatherization position at Affordable Comfort?
We are a Weatherization Contractor
Through Weatherization we help the homeowner Save Energy, Make the home more Comfortable, Save Money and Help them do their part to Protect the Environment.
With Global Warming in the news nearly everyday now we are well positioned to remain viable in the “Sustainability” and “Energy Efficiency” business for the foreseeable future.
In 2022 we will have been going strong for 29 years and the future is very bright for the business.
The Weatherization Programs are Government funded projects where we go into low-income families' homes in the St Louis area.
The funding for these programs is strong and the current administration really loves them and has increased funding substantially and is working towards taking it even further. We expect this trend to continue with all the news about “Global Warming” and the need to do what we can to Conserve and Reduce Energy use.
What we do:
- We install all types of insulation to attics, walls, basements and crawl spaces.
- We also install other Weatherization measures: Door and Window Weatherstrip, Dryer vents, energy efficient light bulbs, smoke detectors, CO Monitors and much much more.
Experience Needed?
- No experience with Weatherization is required.
- Basic Home Improvement or construction experience would be helpful.
- We will Train you, most of the measures we do are not that complicated and someone with good ambition can learn most of the basics within a few weeks.
About the job:
- We work Monday through Friday from 7am till 4pm. There will be some overtime from time to time.
- We will put you through a detailed and organized training schedule.
- Our warehouse in Earth City, Mo
- You will need to use your own hand tools (tape measure, utility knife, hammer, etc) We provide the rest of the tools, equipment and materials you need.
- Weekly pay via direct deposit.

Job Responsibilities include:
Tech
- Set up
- Do the measures (Our Catalog of measures is well over 200 items)
- Clean up
Project Manager
- Assessments- You will do a walk through the house to check the work orders to see if the items on the to do list can be done as prescribed. We aslo check some of the fundamental items to be sure we are getting everything that should be done.
- Communicate with the clients
- Organize the work
- Assign tasks
- Install the measures
- Quality control
- Diagnostic testing
- Take photos
- Paperwork
- Scheduling
Operations Manager
- We very much try to stick to doing jobs Monday thru Friday. However, Monday morning doesn't start Monday at 8! Our operations manager is responsible for equipping our guys with the plan, equipment and materials to get the job done. That planning starts long before 8am Monday. Hopefully everything is set up before end of day Friday. However, you may need to do some chores over the weekend.
- Our Operations Manager will lead from out front. We will push a broom. load trucks , take out trash right along with the guys.
- Its a physical job. We have to be able handle medium weighted materials and be able to navigate attics, and crawl spaces. Yes, you will also be a technician, taking care of small jobs just like the rest of us.
