Aircraft Mechanic II
Arresting Gear – sheaves banks, cross heads, MEC accumulators, and CRO valves and drive system, anchor dampers, sheave dampers, fairlead system, wire support system, barricade system and retractable sheave assemblies. Installs service changes, tests hydraulic cylinders, heat exchangers; repairs various valves and automatic controls and safety devices such as meters, safety valves, and automatic alarms. Performs and assists with onsite machining of parts using portable lathes or boring mills, and milling machines. Connects machinery and steam fuel lines, hydraulic systems, cooling and lubricating lines.
Assists with jobs normally assigned to trades in ALRE program, such as pipefitting, rigging, sheet metal and electrician.
The contractor personnel must have the ability to work from shop sketches, work documents, diagrams, specifications, service change bulletins, NAVAIR publications, written and oral instructions, engineering instructions and blueprints; use drafting instruments and other measuring devices to lay out templates for a variety of parts. In most cases, the finished product must meet plus or minus .001 inch. The contractor personnel must have broad trade knowledge of mechanical principles, standard shop methods and general shop mathematics as it pertains to complex machinery of various types; and have the ability to improvise jigs, fixtures, forms, and dies in order to manufacture, rework or alter metal parts and subassemblies.
The contractor personnel must also have the ability to set up, adjust and operate various types of machine tools, powered tools, and equipment; the capability of laying out machine operations from blueprints and sketches; ability to apply handbooks formulas in computing precise dimensions; capability to use precision measuring instruments such as torque wrenches, calipers, depth micrometers, gage blocks, height blocks, squares and straight edges.
The contractor personnel must also have the knowledge of the Machinist trade to fabricate, modify and assemble various component parts, and the knowledge of the Pipefitter to cope with high pressure steam and hydraulic systems. Adequate experience performing the duties of the labor category as described in the Department of Labor functional description. Service Contract Act (SCA) - 23022
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience on Aircraft Launch and Arresting Devices maintenance.
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must have a valid Driver’s License.
Must be able to speak, read and write and understand English.
Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and / or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned task.
Must past pre employment background check.
Must past pre-employment and post-employment drug testing.
Must be able to attain and maintain an Active Secret Clearance.
