ANTICIPATED START DATE: 7/1/2025
LOCATION: Affton High School
DETAILS: 9 ½-month professional position (1.0 FTE) for the 2025-26 school year, with paid sick and personal leave. District-provided benefits package that includes health, dental, life and vision insurance.
COMPENSATION: Salary for this position is in accordance with the 2025-26 Teacher Salary Schedule. Placement is determined by education and experience.
JOB SUMMARY: The successful candidate will be part of high-energy and enthusiastic teams of professionals, dedicated to meeting the academic, social and emotional needs of students. Successful candidates are reliable, show initiative, self-motivated, and self-directed. Must be able to work with all students and staff to provide academic, social and behavior support for the school.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in education
- Appropriate Missouri teaching certification in Science (9-12) is required
- Prior teaching experience in a school setting at the secondary level is preferred
- The ability to produce engaging lessons in person and in a virtual setting is required
- The ability to listen well and take initiative to solve problems is required
- Strong organizational skills and self-motivation are required
- The ability to work with a multi-ethnic, multicultural student population is required
- The ability to remain flexible and positive with the demands and assignments of the job without losing sight of the mission, task or assignment is required
- The ability to work independently, use good judgment and think quickly and rationally in stressful situations is required
- The ability to effectively present information, respond to questions, and interact positively with students, staff, administration, and the community is required
- The ability to work as a team player, communicate and collaborate with staff and other professionals is required
- The willingness to learn new material and attend professional development, conferences and workshops is required
