The American Federation of Government Employees/National Veterans Affairs Council, a union organization that represents a diverse and growing union of 311,000 (BUE) employees representing the Department of Veterans Affairs, VHA Regional Offices, and National Cemeteries, is seeking an energetic, organized and self-motivated Communications Coordinator for a full-time position. Some travel is required.
The ideal candidate will possess strong media, marketing, IT knowledge, website, and customer skills, a calm disposition, and the ability to work efficiently in stressful situations. Applicant must have the ability to work collaboratively with co-workers and members of the NVAC Executive Council, President, and the membership.
Minimum Requirements:
✓ Minimum 1-year experience in a relatively similar position.
✓ Must be proficient in English and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
✓ Should feel comfortable with public speaking, creating quarterly newsletters, and performing analytics as needed.
✓ Be able to work with a diverse population internally and externally.
✓ Must be able to meet deadlines with a commitment to the labor movement.
✓ At least 2 years of desktop publishing, audio and video production, and website design.
✓ Must be able to use social media (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, X, etc.)
✓ Roll up your sleeves and write. You’ll be responsible for drafting and editing internal and external communications.

IMPORTANT: The duty station for this position is currently located at the Salem VA Medical Center, however, this is NOT a federal position.
