JOB SUMMARY:
The Youth Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the Afghan Support Network’s (ASN) mission by developing and overseeing programs that serve Afghan youth in the Portland Metropolitan area, Oregon, and Southwest Washington. Reporting to the Education Manager, the Youth Coordinator will design, implement, and manage youth-focused initiatives that promote education, personal growth, and community engagement. The role involves direct interaction with youth, parents, and community partners to ensure meaningful and impactful youth programming.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES:
- Develop and implement youth programs that promote education, leadership, and community engagement.
- Plan and oversee after-school programs, mentorship initiatives, and skill-building workshops tailored to Afghan youth.
- Build strong relationships with youth, parents, and community organizations to foster trust and collaboration.
- Organize and facilitate youth engagement events, including cultural celebrations, career readiness workshops, and recreational activities.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to youth, addressing challenges and connecting them with appropriate resources.
- Track program effectiveness through data collection, feedback, and reporting on youth participation and outcomes.
- Advocate for youth needs and collaborate with local schools, nonprofits, and government agencies to enhance program reach.
- Ensure that all youth activities align with ASN’s mission, values, and organizational goals.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with youth in an educational, nonprofit, or community-based setting.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire and engage youth.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement effective youth programs.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including parents, volunteers, and community partners.
- Bilingual in English and Dari and/or Pashto preferred.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends, based on program and client needs.
- Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record required.
- Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation.
