Responsibilities
- Designs factory layout as relates to flow of:
- Raw materials
- In process material
- WIP queues
- Material stores
- Finished goods
- Responsible for designing manufacturing / material planning processes
- Responsible for designing the operational transactions relating to ERP system interface
- Responsible for defining operational standards for labor and resource costing
- Responsible for developing job descriptions and skill requirements for operations and warehouse functions
- Responsible for the technology transfer of operational knowledge following the TWI (Training within Industry) methodology
- Responsible for developing manufacturing improvement plans as relates to labor efficiencies, asset utilization, changeover times, start-up scrap, operational budgets, etc.
- Responsible for training and continual development of operational workforce
- Responsible for completing continuous improvement projects in support of business objectives utilizing IE, DMAIC and/or Lean methodologies.
- Support or lead, when needed, implementation of business and Operational Excellence strategic initiatives
- Collaboration – Must be able to translate operational needs into a defined and quantifiable project scope. Must be able to effectively solicit required information from customer base. Must be able to present options and assessments associated with alternative solutions. Must be open to alternate solutions, methodologies.
- Team Player – Can work cross-functionally with peers and leaders to develop and implement solutions.
- Leadership – Can lead project implementation teams and continuous improvement efforts.
- Vendor Management – Must be able to locate, evaluate, contract and manage accountability of material and service providers
- Organization/ Work management – Must have ability to self-manage time and schedules as required to meet operational deadlines
- Discipline – Must check work, must confirm assumptions, must collect data to establish baselines and post completion performance. Must document work and maintain in a usable format for business use. Must manage the operation to the critical to safety, quality and cost considerations and establish improvement activities based on safety of the operator and financial cost payback.
- Coaching and Development - Must be able to develop business skills in self and others. Must be able to hold others accountable to business, operational and organizational standards.
- Business Acumen- Must have ability and desire to understand business fundamentals and the operational levers of control.
- Problem Solving / Improvement - Utilizes multidisciplinary approach to problem solving and quality improvement
- BS/MS in Industrial Engineering or related field
- 10 years of demonstrated work history delivering operational improvements in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of enterprise resource planning systems with preference for Oracle experience
- Developed Lean Tool Set including (5s, Andon, constraint analysis, OEE, root cause analysis, Standardized work, value stream mapping, etc.)
- Experience implementing pull system planning concepts using Heijunka leveling
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite culminating with the ability to collect, analyze and communicate data.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing machinery and process control
- Experience in DMAIC/6-Sigma or other problems solving methodologies
