We are seeking a full time Manufacturing Draw Technician - Optical Fiber for our AFL Specialty Optical Fibers division (formerly Verrillon) in North Grafton, MA. This is a night shift position (12 hours per day for 4 days or 48 hours per week), Monday to Thursday with days starting at 6 PM and ending at 6 AM. The draw technician is responsible for routine MFG and R&D fiber drawing of existing and new fiber optic products. In manufacturing, setup and operation of the fiber draw tower and ancillary equipment are the primary focus of the position. This is a manufacturing position with intermittent exposure to engineering and R&D functions.

Responsibilities
- Physical setup and operation of draw tower and equipment to produce a diversity of products.
- Operational monitoring of production and R&D runs.
- Documentation of process setup, running and product performance.
- Communication with engineering and employees in other departments is required to maintain schedule and resolve issues.
- Applies technical skills and observation to resolve process issues/variability
- Follows oral and written instructions to achieve manufacturing schedule.

Working Conditions
- This position generally works in a semi clean room environment
- Some exposure to liquid chemistry requires the use of PPE (gloves/safety glasses)
- This position requires daily operation in a man lift
- This position requires the employee to ascend/descend stairways
- Exposure to heat sources (flame, ovens, extrusion equipment) requires use of PPE
