Job Summary
The Foreman/Splicer is responsible for splicing operations at the crew level. The Splicing Foreman is an expert in each type of work performed and makes decisions based on experience and the input of his Splicing Manager and the members of his crew. The Splicing Foreman reports directly to the Splicing Manager on project status, issues with employees and equipment, and any other field level operation issues.
Responsibilities
- Lead a crew of 3-4 splicers in an efficient and effective manner with little or no oversight from the Splicing Manager.
- Including all types of splicing and testing operations on both Dark and Hot fiber.
- Be Proficient at performing all types of Fiber Optic Splicing.
- Single Strand Core Alignment Fusion Splicing.
- Mass Fusion Splicing.
- Be Proficient at performing all types of Fiber Optic testing.
- OTDR testing
- Power Meter testing
- Including troubleshooting of damage or poorly spliced cable
- Be proficient at compiling, organizing, and packaging all test data for delivery to the customer.

Qualifications
- 5 years of experience of OSP Splicing.
- Able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days of employment.
- Ability to pass pre-employment screening
- Valid Drivers License with a clean driving record is required.
- Ability to work from heights such as ladders, bucket trucks, man lifts, scissor lifts & roof tops utilizing proper fall protection.
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to see in color and use color code for fiber wiring.
- Ability to use small hand tools.
- Ability to use power tools.
- Finger & wrist dexterity & hand/eye coordination.
Working Conditions
- Travel to various project locations within North America
- Works around high voltage, or energized lines
- General hours of Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, however the ability to provide support during and outside regular business hours is required on occasion.
- Work up to 6 days per week
- Job is usually performed in indoor/outdoor environments under multiple environmental conditions.
